Howdy!
What are your favourite nightclubs or bars in the city? Dancefloor? What kind of music?
We like 80s goth, new wave, punk, indie, that kind of shiitake.

Slabtown is great for shows and happy hour if you don't mind a little grime. They have an all vegan menu, and the vegan gyro is to die for!

There's an 80's queer bump/grind night that's good but it's once a month... There's... shiitake what's it called, there's like a once a week goth night right above a gay club (the goth night isn't gay but not against it)... I'll have to get back to you about that. Mostly the good danceng here in Portland is more DJ kind of stuff. Like really dancey hip hop or electronic, not at all techno or anything, but not any of what you listed.

I grabbed a book from the library and it has a chapter on nightlife. It looks like there is a number of cocktail bars/lounges, so I'm actually looking forward to checking those out! I wrote down some others: Holocene, Crystal Ballroom, Boxxe's, Berbati's Pan, Groove Suite...a few others. I read that one of the hotel dancefloors has a springboard floor (?!!)

I think you are talking about the Crystal Ballroom floor!

Crystal, Berbatis and Holocene are normally just shows though. And sadly a lot of times unless you luck out with just the right fan base, Portlanders don't dance at shows. There's swaying. Holocene has some DJ nights though where there should be dancing, but not every night will be like that.

Lola's at Crystal Ballroom has cheesy 80's nights on Friday, and Shut Up and Dance is now at Rotture on Fridays (another 80's kind of night). Check out Lovecraft bar for more new wave/ goth/ post punk evenings.
