Hey Dudes and Dudettes, My boyf and I are taking a biking day trip this week to Portland. Since he "hates vegan food" we are looking for a good lunch place with options for both of us! Any ideas?

I would vote Vita or Hungry Tiger Too or Bete Lukas...but really, there are a ton of options.

My boyfriend is not a huge fan of vegan food and we went to the Red & Black Cafe, just around the corner from Herbivore and he loved it. I think they are all vegan though.

Are you into beer?

If so, New Old Lompoc.

I can't push that damn place enough.

okay, this really hurts to say, but I just found out (because I went to the NoPo location last night) that their beer isn't vegan?!? : ( does anyone have anything more recent? http://www.barnivore.com/wine/912/New-O ... eyword=new Steffers, I <3 you! I'm sorry!

That being said, I'm not really into Dick's Kitchen. Perhaps my opinion will change with a coconut shake. I like their prices, I just didn't like how close together the tables were and how my bun fell apart on my tempeh burger.

Lunch in pdx for an omni and a vegan? On a weekday? Sounds like a perfect time for food carts. Homegrown smoker for you, thai/burrito/etc... for him?

That is too bad, I'm supposed to go to lunch there tomorrow. I hate when the tables are too close together.

This is a good suggestion. If it is a nice day you can take your food down to the waterfront to eat.

If your dude hates vegan food, he obviously hasn't had vegan food in Portland before. Next level shiitake, here.

But, seriously, Portobello is doing lunch now, sandwiches, soup, salad, and pizza, all vegan and tasty as fork.

Vita, Los Gorditos, or Chaos Cafe are also good calls. Vita in particular for those who enjoy the perversity of bacon on their tempeh.

I'm generally with the other folks though - there are a couple all vegan options in town, R&B and Portobello being the heavies, where omnis leave saying that they didn't know vegan food could be so good.
