Hello, everyone. I'm trying to move to Portland in the near future (hopefully before summer) and am attempting to build a network of friends. I am also looking for moving tips. I am married and my husband doesn't drive, so tell me of areas that are good for public transportation! I'm also a media guru and a writer, with a major interest in horses and animals- so if you could tell me of anywhere that would be a suitable place to look for work, that would be awesome.
I recommend looking at TriMet maps of Portland: http://trimet.org/max/. Anywhere close to a MAX station would be especially convenient. And if you read through older posts here, you'll find lots of recommendations for vegan-friendly neighborhoods.

I live in the inner SE and love the neighborhood. It's very walkable, vegan friendly, and is constantly getting more public transit friendly. They just added a Portland Street Car Route that connects SE to downtown and NW. Construction is underway to connect Max to the SE, though service won't begin until fall 2015.
