I can't think of anything closer than the PSU area, but there's plenty there. Sending you and your family good thoughts, though.

OHSU is (ironically?) pretty vegan friendly. You shouldn't have a problem finding something to eat. How tasty it will be may be debatable...

There aren't a lot of restaurants on the hill. Sweet Basil has a food cart on SW Gibbs and they offer a number of vegan options. I've found the cafes on campus to be quite vegan friendly and the food is not bad tasting either. The cafe on the third floor of the OHSU hospital has pretty good vegan options most days and a good salad bar. I'm mostly familiar with the Mac Hall cafe and they almost always have a vegetarian soup that is frequently vegan (and labeled as such). They also have vegan entrees fairly often.

You can look at some of the menus here: http://www.ohsu.edu/food/retail.htm The website is kind of crepe, but it gives you and idea what's available.

If you're willing to go off the hill there are lots of vegan options near PSU.

thanx! I've been in the cafeterias before but just got some nasty coffee, never looked at the food. Usually his appointments are short but now we will have to deal with two specialties there so more commutes. Looks like the food will be better than what we dealt with at Texas Childrens.

There is a health-food type store in the main building that has some pretty tasty vegan food. I think it is on the 7th floor. If you go to the info desk in the main building, they should be able to help you find it.
