First time there. Going to busy with all the drinking and whatnot but hoping to be able to experience some of the best vegan food PDX has to offer. What are your "can't miss" places/food items?

What do you like?

I would recommend...a food cart, bakery, brunch, happy hour, 'fancy' dinner, Portland bowl, etc. (and some of these could overlap) but if you're in a specific part of town or on a budget or adore Ethiopian or Thai or bar food or whatnot or pancakes vs. waffles it helps to know!

Good idea :)

I like all of that stuff you mentioned. Love vegan bar food. I'm most likely going to be by myself so nothing too fancy. No budget worries. I'm staying at the Jupiter Hotel. I've heard so much about PDX I just want to experience some of the best it has to offer. Could be vegan ice cream a donut or a hot dog cart - just any vegan gems portland has to offer. Hoping to come back next summer with the family so this is kind of a preview.

Thanks!

Well, I'll let everyone else chime in for the rest since I'm about to head off for the day, but for one thing, you're next door to Sizzle Pie (by a block or two), so go for late night slices/weekend brunch slices! The Rabbit Salad & slice deals are great. Walk south on 12th to visit the vegan mini mall on SE Stark (skip Hungry Tiger..short new menu, much better food elsewhere). Keep walking down south (or take the 70 bus to Milwaukie) and stop at Division & 12th to visit Portobello/Los Gorditos/Beer Mongers/Apex (you can bring tacos to Apex next door). You'll also pass the Cartopia at 12th & Hawthorne for fried pies, french fries, pizza, etc. But really, there are carts all over town, and Mississippi Marketplace is worth visiting for Homegrown Smoker/Native Bowl experiences.
For bar food, Bye & Bye and Sweet Hereafter are definitely staples. White Owl is also in inner SE and fun to check out. Both Gonzo, outside of Basecamp Brewing in inner SE, and Slabtown just outside the Pearl District, have more than decent vegan falafel & gyro fries.
Juniors, Blossoming Lotus & Vita are really swell for vegan bunch (and all three have brunch booze). Probably forgetting 100 things here, but you get the point, there's a shiitake ton of vegan food around.

Awesome info - thank you!

If anyone else can add anything, please do. If I don't hit it this trip, I will next time.
