This is sad. I like the beet burger at Portobello but don't go there often. I miss Off The Griddle a lot and end up making my own at home. I can't even think of another one I've had that was good.

I've heard rave reviews of the veggie burger at Bar Bar, but this is coming from Vegetarians and Omnivores, and the burger does come default with a non-vegan sauce, so I don't know if it would hold true without said sauce. Pretty sure the patty and bun are vegan, however.

And yeah the reason why I'm even bother to include here-say in such a thread is because like Panda says, Portland doesn't exactly have any winners in the burger department.

I think it's a testament to how forking awesome all the other vegan options all so why mess around with a veggie burger?

I am not helping because I have never ordered a veggie burger in Portland. Good luck!

Oh, White Owl has options but they change their menu a lot so I don't know if they have any now. I like the burger at DC Veg but don't get there often. I love veggie burgers and wish there were more good ones here. I like being able to get a homemade option with fries for an easy lunch or dinner (Portobello is a bit fancy for a quick dinner).

I like White Owl and Portobello's burgers.

I do really miss Off The Griddle.

Homegrown Smoker has some rad Southern-style burgers sometimes, but they are not part of their permanent menu. I think White Owl Social Club has the only good burger in Portland right now.

Yeah...I think my favorite was the beet-nut one at Chaos Cafe, and well, that's been a while to say the least. I wasn't into any of the ones I tried at OTG. Over the summer, I had one really, really good Mac & Cheese burger at White Owl, but how could that go wrong? (Oh wait, I had one that was cold in the middle months later).

White Owl's beet burger! Super awesome patty with beets and hazelnuts, served with carrot ribbons and Heidi Ho cheeze.

I like DC Veg and White Owl, but I won't spend 10 bucks on the beet burger again. It was too damn small!

I am still searching for that elusive "best vegan burger" but so far the closest I've come is at the Observatory, which has a house-made quinoa burger, and the black bean burger at Pause, but they only serve that at lunch and late night.

Oh, yeah, it's been a while since I've had it, but Star Bar has a tasty, savory white bean & potato-based burger, that I *think* they can also do as sliders during happy hour, but that may have changed... I mean, I usually go for tots vs. burgers.

Night Life on Clinton and 21st has really good fries and a house-made veggie burger but I haven't tried the burger yet.

I recently tried White Owl's beet burger and it had potential, the patty itself was pretty good. I thought the bun could be much improved, and I wan't a fan of the carrot topping. I might have been into it having carrot if it also had the go-to lettuce and pickles. But nope, just carrots. And super stingy on the condiments.

Dazee swears by the vegan cheeseburger at DC Vegetarian.

Another vote for the DC vegan cheeseburger! (not that I've had very many veggie burgers in Portland)

Very flavourful!

I didn't try this BUT I was at Portobello earlier this week and the folks next to us got the revamped beet burgers and they looked amazing!

Turn! Turn! Turn! just opened at the corner of NE Williams and NE Killingsworth and they have yummy black bean burgers with avocado and hot sauce.

I can't believe she hasn't mentioned it yet, but Julialegume has eaten at least three of the new housemade vegan burger at Dots in the past two weeks or so. It's good!

There's a new veggie burger cart at the Good Food Here pod. Earth Burgers. I had the casbah on Thursday and it was not bad, good vinegared cukes and onions. I plan to go back and work my way through their list.
Apparently that pod is also closing this fall.
