Maybe it's been in stores in SF for a while but I just spotted it at the Cupertino Whole Foods last weekend. I almost picked up a pint until I noticed it was $12!!!!! But oh man, the ginger gelato is calling my name...

It is SO GOOD. I had it at VegFest, and it blew my mind. I haven't bought any yet due to the price tag, but I figure that I will get some for a special occasion sometime.

Shooooooot. My boyfriend was a sucker and bought it. haha! We were craving Scream one evening, but didn't want to go all the way to Oakland to get it, so he thought it would be a good substitute... It's not as good as Scream, I think, but it is pretty good. I just wish it weren't so expensive!

So after a stressful week I rewarded myself with two (!) pints, ginger and pistachio. Is it just me, or do they not taste as good as they did at Veg Fest? The ginger didn't seem as ginger-y and the pistachio had a bitter, almost burnt underlying flavor. I'm kinda bummed!

Yeah, Genuto was also not as "creamy" as I thought it was going to be. It was still pretty good for trying to be a vegan gelato, but it definitely didn't hit the right spot when my boyfriend and I wanted ice cream last.

I bought the Genuto pistachio--figured why not, because I'd previously bought the $8 raw vegan pistachio Cashewtopia by Organic Nectars.
Cashewtopia has a subtle pistachio taste, but it's pretty good.
Genuto, on the other hand, is *incredibly* grainy. Kind of bitter and at first it tasted awful when my mouth was expecting something sweet and creamy.
I'm glad I don't like it, so I'll never be tempted to spend $12 on vegan ice cream again!
I hate to say it, but the best pistachio vegan ice cream I've had is getting Tofutti or Trader Joe's vegan vanilla and quickly mixing in some vegan pistachio pudding mix. It's a pain in the butt to do it, but it tastes damn good.

I guess I'm a sucker because I love this stuff. The Chai Spice is incredible, I would be ok with getting just that flavor for the rest of my life.
