Me and the wifey are heading up to SF next week.
Where do we absolutely have to go?

Upon reflection of the places I miss most in SF, I'd say Gracias Madre and Saha! But especially Gracias Madre.

Millennium should be at the top of your list though, especially if you're not venturing to the east bay (Encuentro, Souley Vegan, Flaco's, Gather, Vik's Chaat House, Maoz Falafel, the Liba Falafel truck, Saturn Cafe, and Cinnaholic are the places you'd want to hit in the East Bay though I'm not in love with the last two).
Oh, and there's Patxi's in SF for vegan deep dish, and the frozen soy yogurt at Fraiche.

Liba Falafel truck also makes appearances in SF. I lovelovelove them.
I second Gracias Madre. I also really love Cha Ya. And get a burrito from Papalote - get the mole tofu.

vegan deep dish???!! have to check that one out
have heard about Gracias Madre. Mole tofu burrito sounds awesome too.
We're staying at Hotel California, so were planning on doing a nice dinner at Millennium.
Thanks guys, I'll have to keep track of what we do and report back!

FYI, since you are staying in the area, Saha does a brunch everyday from early-10:30/11ish. It's not on their website, but it's there! When I went they had four awesome-sounding vegan dishes, and a got a curry tofu benedict. It was $7/amazing. Good deal! And there is also Little Bird--actual SF people not just wannabes like me really like it!

You're staying a few blocks down from little bird, which would be a good morning option.

I second Millennium, Gracias Madre, Udupi Palace and Patxi's (if you like Daiya). I would personally add Ike's if you want the most amazing sandwiches ever.

Oh yeah, I love Ike's!
But seriously. Source is so good and it's quickly becoming one of my favorites in SF. It's a newish vegetarian restaurant in SOMA and I don't think that many people have tried it yet. The veggie burgers! The mac n' cheese! The spinach artichoke dip! The weird trays and light therapy! Now I want to gooooo.

I just googled the location and it is a FOUR minute walk from my company's SF office. I hardly ever Caltrain it up to SF on weekdays because I'm lazy, but I think that just gave me motivation to make the trip more often.

Like 2 long blocks then 2 normal blocks!
