Hello San Franciscans,

I am currently enjoying your lovely city. Though what's the deal with the rain today?? I only have two days left here before I go back to Australia, and I was wondering if you could help me by telling me where I can buy:

Tings
Vegan butterscotch chips (Food Lion, I think?)
Maple essence

Thank you for helping with my US grocery shopping so I can take them back home and make amazing fuds.

There's probably other places, but I would go to Rainbow Co-op for all of that stuff!

I feel like you can buy Tings in most grocery stores, but if all else fails Whole Foods and Rainbow.

Not sure about Butterscotch chips or maple essence. We don't have Food Lion here.

And yes, the rain is terrible.

Welcome to summer in San Francisco! I would say Rainbow, but I would also say that you can't get butterscotch chips here. We have to bug our friends from New York to bring them out when they visit. Sorry!

I'm sure you know this already, but I also recommend Trader Joe's for a bunch of delicious and unique vegan snacks.

I'm with Erika. No butterscotch chips to be found here, but I think you can get maple extract (which is, I think, the same as essence) at a place like Safeway. It's the fakey stuff, but that's the kind that actually tastes like maple, as opposed to, say, more natural alternatives.

Do check out Rainbow Co-op for delicious foods, and also Trader Joe's.

Thanks guys. I am going to head out to Rainbow today. Was right near there on Monday without realising! I haven't been to a TJs yet, so will google for location and see if I can get there as well.

Yes, there's a TJ's at 9th and Brannan, which is about 6 blocks from Rainbow!

Thanks! I hit Wholefoods, Rainbow and TJs today (with a detour to Source for lunch between the last two). I got the Tings! Plus a few more snacks to take back to Australia with me.

That is such a shame about the butterscotch chips. They are in so many recipes in several of my US vegan cookbooks that I just assumed they would be available really easily. Guess I'll have to try and find someone to send them to me so I can make the recipes.

I've never been able to find vegan butterscotch chips in CA so I'm thinking about making my own (by mixing butterscotch into white chocolate). If they work out I'll post the recipe.

I hope you've enjoyed your trip!
