So I'm too broke to make a fancy meal and figured maybe I'd volunteer this year. Anyone know of a good one?

Cafe Gratitude does a neat thing on Thanksgiving where you can get a free vegan meal. They always need people to volunteer to serve and wash dishes and stuff. http://cafegratitude.com/events/all-upc ... sion-cafes

That's not really a soup kitchen, but it's vegan and is open to anyone.

You could also email the sf food not bombs and see if they're doing a Thanksgiving serving.

Does anybody have any recommendations for Christmas? Or, in general for the winter? I'm coming home for a few weeks, and my best friend and I would like to volunteer at soup kitchens, food banks or the like, but aren't sure where to start looking. We're both in the East Bay, but can get around.
