So, I was near the Donut Farm the other day, and found out they're no longer open everyday! The guy working had the door open, and he saw me with a sad face outside because I knew it was closed. He let me in anyway, and sold me some donuts, but he told me there just weren't enough people going in during the week. They are open Friday through Sunday, though...
AND! They're planning a vegan brunch on Nov 21, I think, the guy said? I'll try to check back again since my mind has been all jumbly lately, and I probably got the date wrong. But if they are having a Sunday brunch, EVERYONE SHOULD GO! :)
Also, what is your favorite donut by Pepples? Mine is the Old Fashioned (kinda crispy! I like!), coconut or the blueberry.

Awww, that's so sad!! But I can see how a donut place wouldn't get a lot of weekday, all-day-long traffic. I LOVE their salted caramel, but plain cake, blueberry, and cinnamon are also badass.

I went to Pepple's kiosk at the embarcadero one Saturady looking for fritters.... they didn't seem to have any so I asked if they sold out already and the lady was like " we didn't have any". Man, I gotta believe fritters would sell like crazy. If anyone knows how to get their apple (or I think I saw pineapple on the menu) fritters, please post it.

Check their twitter ( http://twitter.com/vegan_donuts). They always update with what they've got special. I'm sure you could request they make some, too... I've seen several people requesting the raised donuts, and Pepples made 'em the following day or week.

If I had Fritters on my donut menu I'd be making them and having them for sale on Saturday mornings.

I stopped by the farm when it first opened and got some awesome fritters and a raised glazed. Then, when I stopped by a couple weeks later, their proofer was broken so they couldn't make raised donuts (fritters are also raised), plus the owner was out of town, so they were on a raised hiatus. Perhaps you caught them around the same time? The guy working there said they should be back in about a week, but I haven't been back since, so perhaps there have been other delays.

Wait, wait, what? There are vegan donuts in Oakland? How did I not know this?

They're actually all over the bay, because Pepples Donuts sells to a bunch of cafes all over the area. But they also have their own shop called Donut Farm in Oakland, and a donut kiosk in the Ferry Building in SF.

San Pablo at 61st-ish. West side of the road with a small sign, so keep your eyes peeled.

I honestly didn't know they were open in the first place, let alone cutting back their hours. I live close to their store and kept waiting for it to open, but it perpetually looks unfinished. There's not really a sign, except a sort-of wheatpasted thing that says "donuts" and Thank You! written by hand above it. It might help drive more traffic to their spot if they had a more polished-looking storefront... just sayin'.

and if they had raised donuts more consistently. I was SO excited when the kiosk opened and they had yeasted donuts every day for like a week...then it was only on Saturdays, then it was only Saturdays after 11, then it was just some Saturdays whenever the hell they felt like it. They're just always so spotty that I don't want to waste my time to go across the bay and find out they don't have raised donuts. I could give a shiitake about their cake donuts.

Their facebook claims that raised donuts are back! Ferry Building and Oakland, Fridays and Saturdays. http://twitter.com/vegan_donutsYes, they don't really have all their shiitake together, but opening a store is challenging and shiitake breaks unexpectedly, and they're punks, so there's that, too. Remember what a mess Souley was (and still can be)? But they're a staple now. I can't really hate on anyone who wants to put raised donuts in my belly.

VEGAN BRUNCH AT DONUT FARM CONFIRMED! (Located at 6037 San Pablo Ave., Oakland, CA)
They'll be having brunch from 9AM to 12Noon 1PM on Sunday. I'll try to go, but I don't know if I'll really be able to get up that early on a Sunday and make it over the bridge in time. I wonder what they'll be serving (besides donuts, I mean).
Edited to fix brunch time.

Donut Farm is the best. I went in there yesterday to pick up breakfast donuts and found they didn't take debit cards. The excellent dude working there (who has a tattoo on his neck that reads, "MY MOM forking RULED", <3) was like, "Oh, no sweat. Just come by whenever you have cash. Enjoy the donuts!"

I officially eat my words. The place I thought was their storefront that was never open is actually not their storefront. DURRRRRRR. And in other good news, the real storefront is even closer to my house than previously thought. Woo woo!

Ok, here's the 411 on Donut Farm [6037 San Pablo Ave (between 60th St & 61st St)]...
I've had the brunch four times now.... killer!!! The brunch is only available on weekends, until 2:00 PM. Donuts, on the other hand, are available all the time. Their main business comes from selling crates of vegan donuts to shops all over.
But do not sleep on this vegan brunch! I've had every Tofu Scramble in the Bay Area, and I must say this one is at the top. (2nd place goes to Venus in Berkeley on Shattuck.) The "Scram" has vegetables mixed in, and comes with hash browns and toast that also rule. The whole place is vegan, so start selling your meat-eating, tofu-fearing friend on their pancakes. You can get the 'cakes with or without blueberries. Ok, that's it, just those two entrees plus the donut fare. While there's not many options, they do what they make very well. They even tossed in a homemade sausage of some sort one time.
The interior is somewhat shabby, but I don't need the back patio of La Note when I'm eating breakfast. Parking is easy.
Get to the Farm ASAP and get that brunch!!!! Worth noting: they DO accept credit cards.

Yes, they do accept credit cards now!
And for the brunch pancakes, they do plain, blueberry, AND banana!
Plus, the people that work there are the freakin' best. They're super friendly, really funny, and extremely sweet.

I was hoping E-dawg could give us the hook up! Or at least gently encourage them to enforce some sort of raised donut schedule.
