Has anybody used this? They are offering one-way fares from Sacramento-SF for $1. I figure it almost has to be too good to be true.

Oh my god. Do you have to sit on a dead person or something? I think some brave soul should take this and report back.

I've taken cheap-ass Megabus trips in both Toronto/Montreal and North California. It was fine!

I think I'm going to do it. Maybe Christmas day because I don't have anything else to do. Two bucks round trip!?

Currently their only routes from Sac are to SF and Sparks, NV (random?), but it looks like you can go more places from the SF station (Caltrain station).

I've taken it from DC to Philly. Totally legit!

Sweet! This is going to change my life in a big way if it's good. Driving is forking expensive/annoying, and Amtrak is even more expensive but not so annoying. So I usually take the train, but it costs me $60, plus bus fare when I get into San Francisco. So that sucks.

Megabus is great on the east coast. To get the super cheap deals you haveto book far in advance, but the prices are usually pretty good anyway. I went to DC from NYC for $9 once. Never got the $1 deal though.

Yeah, Megabus is cool, I've heard, as long as you don't mind it occasionally catching on fire or stopping for no obvious reason, and that it might actually be a front for some kind of organized crime smuggling thing.

Is it terrible that even after reading all of that, I still want to try it? Two dollars!

I take megabus often and one time there was no AC for half an hour in 104 degrees, which sucked, but it was still an $8 trip to DC, so whatever.

I used to use Megabus on the East Coast. WAY less sketchy than the Chinatown buses that ran between Boston/NYC/DC. At least on the east coast they had WiFi on board too.
