Thank you!
I hope they still have tofu when I'm down in March! I want to try so I can tell them how wonderful it is.

I'm excited. I am definitely going to try it and then gush to them about how great they are so that they will keep it and put it everywhere!

I was about to post about this, sounds pretty good. Two or three locations downtown will have it.

I got a burrito today! The vegan gods must have been smiling down on me today too because the guy who was working there made my burrito for free! So cool! I thought the sofritas was pretty tasty. The texture's really meaty, kind of like when you freeze tofu. The sauce is pretty strong and savory. It reminded me kind of a spicy tofu scramble. I'd get it again and probably will, since it's a 10 min walk from my lab :P (FYI if any one is planning to go to the one in PA, only the location at the Stanford Mall has tofu.) I was going to post an action shot, but the insides of burritos are not very pretty. But I will brag about my lunch today! There's a Sprinkles in the same mall as the Chipotle so I got myself a vegan red velvet cupcake for dessert. It was way better than I remembered! NOMZ Palo Alto/Stanford has really become a vegan mecca!

We must have our Stanford date!

You may have to make it a 2-day trip or come *really* hungry -- there's also Lyfe, Garden Fresh, Raw Daddy's, and Scream! There's also an ice cream place in San Carlos that serves coconut and soy milk ice creams, that I've never been to.

I'm glad to hear the tofu is meaty and not mushy. That was my biggest concern. I really, really want to try this!

There are at least two or three Chipotle locations that are *just* outside of a reasonable walk for lunch from my office, and nothing closer. I really need to make a point of stopping by and trying this, hopefully if it's a hit they'll take it national! That would be awesome for Hodo, too.

I just ate a sofritas burrito the size of my face. I picked it up at the Millbrae Chipotle. It was delicious! It's a bit saltier than I make stuff at home though. And the whole burrito is wetter overall than a veggie without dairy. I'm not sure I'd call it "shredded" though. More like scrambled. Tasty, tasty scramble. I was expecting it to be bland, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Seems like they have Sofritas at more locations now, I like it in the crunchy tacos.

We have it in the central valley now, well, at least in Modesto. I will try it soon. I know it is in the East Bay & Sac locations.

It sounds like they're really going for it. This morning, Chipotle was a sponsor for KQED/NPR and they were promoting the sofritas!

Very cool! I hope it's really popular! Maybe it will encourage other fast food places to be more veg-friendly.
But I feel like a bad vegan...I've gone back to the veggie burrito. Mostly because I resent paying $2 for guac.

I was surprised to find it at a Sacramento store today. It was exciting because I wasn't looking for it!
But I have to agree, couroupita - it's not worth having to pay for guac, and paying $9 for a bowl today hurt a little. I'm glad I tried it, but I don't think I'll order it again. It was too salty for me anyway.

For that reason, the tofu would probably just be an occasional novelty for me, but I'm glad to hear it's good and I hope it makes its way over to Michigan! This reminds me of when I went to BD's Mongolian BBQ a few months ago- it's one of those build your own stirfry places- and they suddenly had gardein chicken and beef. I tried a bowl with chicken and it was good but I much preferred a bowl of nothing but veggies.

I tried this when I was in the Bay Area last month and I totally agree with couroupita. The sofritas is delicious but I would rather have the free guac! That being said, I'm still really glad they are trying out another veg option and I wrote and told them how much I liked it.

I liked it! They also offered me free guac to replace my salad dressing....

I tried to get free guac as a substitute for cheese/sour cream and they wouldn't do it for me. That struck me as a kind of dick move and I was a bit disappointed.
Then again, I live in SF. I am basically never going to Chipotle except when on trips outside of the city, so it doesn't matter that much. But I agree, paying extra for guac kind of rankles.

Especially since they charge SO MUCH for it. I know avocados are expensive, but it's not like they give you a ton. I never realized because I've never had to pay for it before. I was kind of shocked when they told me my total.
