I hate referring to this part is the state as the Bay (cause thats where I'm from) but I am going to have to be spending a lot of time here to take care of my family in the future. I've only been here twice and both times I have been living off of scraps (I bought some FYH dressing and it WASNT VEGAN). Is there like a co-op somewhere? Cool stuff to do? Is there a bus system or a safe way to ride my bike? Being from Portland I am so spoiled, I am literally overdressed and wasting away. This is pertaining to like the Modesto area specifially.

You'll want to talk with missmuffcake, I think she's close to Modesto.

209 what up yo! I am the only one in the central valley around these parts. Sadly if you do not live in Modesto you are out of luck, I know Stockton has a Trader Joe's...If you plan on Modesto, it is pretty bike friendly, we have a Sprouts, Raley's with a huge natural foods dept., Trader Joe's and Greens which has moved (and I have not been to the new location) that stocks vegan specialties and hot food. Also there is a coffee place down town (with wonky hours) that has almond & soy milk on tap + vegan and raw treats...

The only other time I travel in the central valley is to see friends/family in other cities or go to Rasputin in Stockton. Lately we are in Oakland so much people think we live there...I <3 my house and do not plan on moving soon!

Just wanted to get it out on the webz that Siamese Street in Stockton has really good food! The menu has a lot of vegan options and the condiment tray they bring out is all vegan (no fish sauce stuff)...
