PS for more vegan options:

Cholita Linda makes an amazing tofu taco.
Juhu Beach Club makes some vegan dals/chilis if you leave the yoghurt topping off of Mom's Guju Chili or the Garam Masala Chickpeas. I think their fries are vegan, too.
Fat Face has vegan popsicles - I've seen them at farmers markets but never tried them.
Chaac Mool's website is down right now but I am pretty sure they have a vegan taco at least from last time I looked at the menu.
Chairman Bao does a tofu/bok choy bun!

Is that one vegan? They're often at the off the grid near my office and sometimes they look like they might be my only option but don't want to wait in line 15 minutes just to ask. I think I saw it had mayo or something like that and that's what threw me.

I always get the bowl at Chairman Bao, that is vegan, or they said it was.

Ooo, it's a garlic-tofu mayo. The last time I had it was over a year ago, and I am pretty sure it was vegan. Now I'm wondering if I assumed but I think I asked. I am now driven to email and ask and will report back!

Hokay, I have bad news.

I was pretty sure I had asked about the tofu mayo, which is vegan! Yay!

But I just got a reply to my email asking about the veganocity of the garlic miso tofu choy sum bun over all and the tofu is not vegan. It is dipped in buttermilk. Boo!

They suggest getting a steamed bun with tofu mayo and one of their salads. So I guess the bok choy/choy sum/baked buns aren't vegan either.

Mmmm, plain steamed rice flour! YUM.

(actually, I would eat five pounds of that. I just find it dumb when the 'vegan option' is something I could buy from the grocery store for $1)

Apropos, why would you dip tofu in buttermilk?! I can't even--

I know right? What the. They do that to the tofu sandwich at Bakesale Betty too! I was like, yay, something I can eat when yet another omni friend loses their fool mind over that chicken sandwich, but nope.
