The brunch at Timeless sounds seriously amazing, I'll be stalking their Twitter feed!

The Lanesplitter rec is awesome too, we love collapsing with takeout pizza after a day of exploring and it looks like they'll deliver to the place we're staying in Berkeley.

Eat Real fest' sounds rad, it looks like it's the same weekend as SF Veg Fest which we're planning to go to on the Saturday (we're staying in SF that day) so we might hit it up on Sunday when we'll be around that side of the city.

So this Ike's thing is fixed now? I read about the chicken not really being vegan on yelp but I kinda still wanna go there because I love sandwiches!

I can't believe we'll just miss you too! I guess we'll just have to come to Austin sometime in the not too distant future!

Oooh we're also looking for a sports bar recommendation. Nick wants to watch the 49ers playing away - he wants a proper full of 49ers fans sports bar & I would rather go somewhere with a vegan menu and minimal bro dudes! Is there a middle ground?!

The vege chicken at Love N Haight and at the corner store in the Mission whose name escapes me are vegan! I prefer both of those to Ike's. SF has the best sandwiches. There is good tofu Banh Mi to be found in the Inner Richmond, and in the Tenderloin, but check reviews and ask questions to make sure the tofu sandwiches are vegan.

If you want a good sandwich (that you can trust) try Nature's Express! They do sandwiches and burgers - they even do a chicken mushroom burger that we like & both my boyfriend and I dislike mushrooms!

Dinosaur in the Castro has a great vegan Banh Mi (w/vegan mayo). In the tenderloin I only go to Lees on Larkin, they have two vegan Banh mi options, other shops soak their tofu in chicken broth maybe be inquisitive if you venture into other shops in little saigon. Cafe Bunn mi on 6th ave in the Richmond has two vegan banh mi sandwhiches.

That's where I always used to go! And Little Vietnam on Clement has it too. Man, there are few things better than vegan banh mi.

I'm not sure if that issue is resolved but Ike's has more vegan options than just veggie chicken. I only ever order the vegan Chelsea or the vegan meatball sub because I think they're the best things on the menu and those are definitely vegan.

Isn't there a place that serves vegan brats that is kind of sports-y or at least has big tvs that play the games? The ones I've heard about are Gestalt Haus and Rosamunde. Gestalt caters to cyclists and they both serve craft beers so it seems to me like you'd encounter fewer bros there. I can never get anyone to go to a bar with me so I can't vouch for either of them, unfortunately :(

I think the Upper Haight Rosamunde used to play sports, and maybe the one in the mission too. I'm not 100% because I only ever wanted to watch the Vancouver Canucks play hockey and that was fruitless in SF. It would be good to call. When me and Jaymoh were last at Gestalt, the roof fell in. It was pretty awesome.

Thanks for the sandwich and bar rec's! I'll definitely give those bars a call to see if they'll be showing football.

Also I got tickets to see The Julie Ruin whilst I'm in town!!!!!! Epic!

Don't miss Encuentro (a very hip, new and all vegetarian place - they have vegan options for everything). It's in downtown Oakland and is now my favorite place in the Bay Area.

Also, I see a bunch of others listed, but not Shangrila which is in Emeryville (east bay) - fabulous food and zen environment.

I love Nature Express (already mentioned), which is fast food in Berkeley.

Souley Vegan is fun... a little on the heavy side for me, but very unique.

I'm arriving Friday! Yay! It'll be such a weirdly bittersweet trip, and a short one, but I'm excited because even though I lived there such a brief time, it still feels like one of my many homes.

Jojo!
You'll be happy to know that there are 3 bagelry spots in Santa Cruz, including one right by our house! Also there is a super fun pizza place in SC that has vegan topping that they're themselves (tofu based), an has no daiya. Plus, they have a ping pong table.

There are a bunch of good options in SC!

I can't wait for your visit!

If someone wanted to eat tacos for every meal in the day in San Francisco what would be the best way to go about this? Do you guys have breakfast taco's? Where are the best lunch & dinner taco spots? I'm guessing Flaco's and Gracias Madre?

I haven't seen breakfast tacos much around here. As an Austinite, that saddens me. But Gracias Madre for lunch, Papalote for snack and Little Chuiuaua for a hearty burrito dinner? Flacos is in Berkeley, not SF.

Oh yeah, those are great suggestions and I feel in love with breakfast taco's in Austin so I get your sadness! I think I might do a late breakfast at Papalote, lunch at Little Chihuahua and then dinner at Gracias Madre. I want to do a day long taco cleanse along with the Austin MoFo bloggers!

Little Chihuahua is my favourite! The wild mushroom tacos/burritos are the BEST.

You should go to Pica Pica in the Mission for arepas too. I prefer places like Taqueria Can-Cun to Papalote even though Papalote does have more vegan options.

Gracias Madre tacos are the way to order (albeit expensive compared to other Mission tacos) because you get to taste up to three different delicious fillings and the beans are amazing. Try the plantains if they have them!

I am so sad I missed my SF trip. :(

Of the vendors they've listed, the ones I know have vegan options are:

Little Green Cyclo
Hodo Soy
Homeroom
Kasa Indian
Onigilly

I know NoNo Burger is vegetarian but I've never eaten there and don't know if it's vegan as well.

Little Green Cyclo -yay, greasy and good
Hodo Soy - yay
Homeroom - don't know, I feed the cheese monster there (don't hate) but others say yay
Kasa Indian - meh, better Indian trucks
Onigilly - don't know, I'm sure yay

There will probably be other vegan options too not listed. It was super hot last year and lines for everything, we bailed kind of quick since I used to get food trucks all the time at work.

Erika, are you in my brain? I just emailed them to check. They're vegan! Burgers, buns, toppings and sauces except for dairy cheese options on their specialty burgers. (But they also have vegan cheese.)
