I'm visiting my mom in Sac and was wondering if their are any good omni spots? We've been to all the vegan restaurants in town but she is not thrilled by vegan food and really likes fancier places. I especially like Vietnamese or any Asian places really but from looking on yelp it seems like the vegan friendly ones are all not too exciting atmospheare-wise.

But basically all I really want is dope vegan food and a great wine list. If it exists!

I don't know Sacto all that well, the only two that pop into my mind are Johnny Rocket's and P.F. Chang's. The latter gave me food poisoning, so maybe steer clear of that one....

Maybe some central valley peeps can get all up in hurr and help you out! Good luck.

I thought Ashley is in Sacramento?

I haven't been to many Sacramento restaurants, but here's the list I put together for myself based on yelp reviews for when I go in the fall with my husband's family (omnis who don't want to go to a veg restaurant).

-Bangkok@12 (separate veg menu)
-Casablanca Moroccan
-Lemon Grass (fusion?, veg menu, seems nice inside)
-Mikuni sushi (veg menu, trendy)

Fancypants places:
-Enotria Restaurant & Wine Bar (they're supposed to be very veg friendly if you ask)
-The Kitchen (expensive, will make a vegan menu)
-Seasons 52 (they have a separate vegan menu, which looks ok except desert is FRESH FRUIT.)
-Firehouse (supposed to have vegan/vegetarian menu with mixed reviews)

Hope this helps. Let me know if you try any of those places or find something really good!

I am indeed in Sacramento. Unfortunately I'm not the best source of info on fancy places. When I go out I mostly eat at cheaper places (if you plan to venture into Little Saigon South Sac I can recommend a GOOD banh mi sandwich).

Couroupita's list is really good. I'd add El Papagayo and Tower Café. Hokaido Noodle House has a decent vegan ramen. There are a couple of good vegan Ethiopian buffets too.

Oh but keep in mind that the Lemon Grass on Howe Ave has closed. I think there's still another one open, although I've never been there and don't know where it is.

Try El Papagayo in Carmichael - Mexican food with great vegan options and friendly owners. Or Bangkok @ 12 in Sac - vegan friendly.

I did not want to start a whole new Sac thread....so!

If you are in Sac check out Pushkin Bakery! They have vegan cupcakes, cookies, mini loaves and more. OMG the cupcakes are so so so good. The barracuda & toasted coconut are perfect. I am not a frosting girl but love their frosting! The chocolate pistachio cookie is a winner...

This is a good one. I went a couple weeks ago and had a really good pumpkin curry.

I am trying Coconut next time for lunch. I went to the Plum the last two times to see if they got their stuff together since switching owners...Still very inconsistent and overpriced.

The Plum really is overpriced, and the food is average at best. I am not a fan.

Cream cheese wontons! Must try!

The Plum started off good...then with the new owners I thought it would improve. My salad really pissed me off though...$10 for a salad they use as a side with pesto? I am looking for future lunch spots that have salads, sandwiches and small plates...

Has anyone tried the vegan stuff from 24k next door? My boyfriend did not want brunch items so we went to The Plum...

The same people are cooking. The new owners took over the business side of things.

The Coconut has great peanut sauce, too. Wasn't a fan of the pad Thai, but the curries are pretty tasty.

For future reference, Frank Fats is good. When we were there we ordered different veggie plates and when we ordered our fried rice, the waiter was actually good enough at his job to notice, and asked if we were vegetarian and wanted to leave the egg out of the rice. They are attentive there but not intrusive. The place is very nice. It is pricey, and the food is good. They are known for their banana pie, but I'm not sure if it is vegan.

Maalouf's Taste of Lebanon was so good! They have at least a couple of vegan meal options, they have vegan baklava (!!!!!), the music and service are great, and the prices are reasonable. I highly recommend it!

Oooh, I am gonna have to keep this in mind. There seems to be a shortage of Lebanese restaurants in the SF area, and that's what my boyfriend calls home cookin'. Plus, vegan baklava? Eff yeah!

New favorite: Bodhi Bowl off Florin Rd. Amazing vegan Vietnamese food (pho!) and the owner is so nice. She described literally every item on the menu to us.

Old thread ...I know. But I really liked Namaste Nepal in Roseville. They have a vegan buffet night apparently too. Yum and nice atmosphere.
