Went there for the first time in years for brunch this weekend and was really impressed. Terrific pancakes, good tofu rancheros -- earth balance, sour cream etc -- pretty complete vegan breakfast options, bottomless mimosas.

Love this place! I went there recently for brunch, too, and was also impressed. All the friends I've taken there since have been huge fans.

I love Weird Fish, especially since it re-opened with a non-shitty attitude and all the good vegan options back on the menu. I've never been for brunch though and, honestly, I only go maybe twice a year anyway because it's pricier and has such limited seating.

The buffalo girls have always been my favorite! I think there was some hubbub right when they re-opened because a vegansaurus writer went in there and got a large singular buffalo girl. It's different now, though, every time I order them I forget how much comes. Fine by me, though, they're good straight from the fridge, too!

when the reopened the buffalo girls did not taste as good, so i have yet to order them again. i will though if they are back to the old style with the sauce on them...

the seitan is now flat - like fillets - i liked it, easier to eat than those huge chunks...

I just went here with a friend last night and got the Hell Boy sandwich. God DAMN this place is delicious. All my friends are into it, too!

I read that this week. I am crying all the tears, but I need to be eating all the buffalo girls.

Just found out today that they're open until spring (whenever that is)! Get your food on for the next couple months, friends.

I went just before NYE and just keep a sharp eye! I think the new owners have already taken over (the credit card slip had the name of some French bistro, which I know is what it's going to be) and they screwed up my order. The guy didn't write down my order (red alert!) and brought me the buffalo boys, which are the fish and not the seitan. I took a bite and had to root around in my purse for a tissue to spit it into because their stupid napkins are cloth. They brought me the correct order (thankfully they didn't mess up my hell fish tacos), but still tried to charge me for the fish ($1 more). They also fixed that. But.... just, be careful.

I would have spit it into the cloth napkin without a second thought. The last time I was accidentally served a chicken tamale, I reflexively spit it onto the plate. You're so polite!

But once again the vegan mafia has made their sadness known that they never want to live a day without their Buffalo Girls in the Mission, and Yalçin has decided to incorporate some of Weird Fish's best-loved vegan dishes into the new menu.

Why does that write-up seem to depict vegans as a necessary menace? Like we're some semi-feral native species that has to be placated with Buffalo Girls lest we rut in their walk-in fridges and poop in their dish sink.

Now I'm picturing the new owner opening the door a crack and throwing Buffalo Girls to the filthy horde of baying vegans on the sidewalk. I'm sharpening my pitchfork in anticipation.

Hahaha! Seriously, the way that was written I just pictured the various owners of Weird Fish throughout history cautiously trudging up a volcano, throwing in trays of Buffalo Girls, and fleeing in terror. THE VEGANS MUST BE SATED OR ELSE THE WHOLE VILLAGE BURNS.
