That looks wonderful but it's a sad state for SF when the only yeasted donuts around aren't even technically in the Bay Area. What I would do for yeasted donuts anywhere nearby!!!!

Pebbles/Donut Farm does yeasted donuts, but only on weekends, if they get around to it :/

ETA: I would kill to have a readily available maple bar in SF. KILL.

I have had way too many horrible donuts and service from Pebbles. I cannot believe that is our only option. We do have wonderful food choicess but our donut game is powerfully lame. Carmichael on the weekends is our best guess, apparently.

i had a fritter from pebbles years ago - it was not good in anyway. i remember WF oakland had jelly filled for a minute but again - they were not really good. the doughnuts from fd&d - legit. plus it has that doughnut shop feel.

if anyone does make it down on the weekends El Papagayo is down the street from fd&d - they have a really good vegan mexican menu. bonus is they have a chip/salsa bar. the pineapple salsa is really good!

Oh, I'm not disputing that fact at all! They've got a monopoly (inexplicably) and have had one for several years, but if they don't step it up someone is going to come in and exploit the hell out of that niche.

I'm glad to know those other donuts are an option! Sadly they're a bit too far for car-less me, but good to know if I ever find myself in that area on a weekend. I've heard good things about El Papagayo, too, I'll have to check them out next time I'm up in that area.

Thank you so much for posting this!!! I was in the area on Sunday & stopped by. I got there about 90 minutes before closing, but they still had vegan doughnuts. I got the chocolate glazed with pb filling & a regular glazed. So much deliciousness! Also, huge thumbs up on El Papagayo!!

This place is still good and the people who work there are still really nice. We had maple bars and a glazed snail last weekend. So much goodness!

I picked some up on the way to Tahoe last weekend and they were delicious! They had just started cooking the vegan ones and were nice enough to ask which kind I wanted and moved those up the to-do list. And yes, staff is super nice. I wish it was closer to the Bay Area.

went yesterday after reading this post + needing doughnuts in my life. we had chocolate custard filled there. then took some home - including a bear claw type deal stuffed with apple pie filling!
