I love Delfina's broccoli raab pizza with red sauce and extra red sauce on the side. Also, Patxi's Chicago vegan with jalapenos. Some Escape from New York's do slices. Farina also has excellent pizza. Tony's and Una Pizza Napoletano if you've got time to wait in line. I'm not a Chinese fan so I can't help you there. I have found the baked goods to be very lacking here, Rainbow has a sad collection of dried out, dense things. SF is gorgeous and wonderful but if you live in Portland, you will probably not be impressed by our foods.

That's very interesting to me! I would think since it's such a big city that there would be a tonne of amazing things! Huh!

Cinnaholic in Berkeley is said to be amazing, although I've not been there myself. All vegan cinnamon rolls. It's right across the street from the west entrance to UC Berkeley campus.

If you make it over to the East Bay, which a lot of long-term SF residents seem incapable of doing, you'll find both Timeless has excellent pastries and Nature Vegetarian Restaurant has killer dim sum (lunch time only). There aren't really many great pizza options in the east bay.

Over in SF my favorite pizza is either Amici's or Patxi's. In Chinatown you'll find three veggie restaurants- Loving Hut, Lucky Creation (best/only vegan cha siu bao in the bay), and Enjoy (although I no longer eat there because it gives me migraines).

Another rec for Delfina's in Pac Heights! It's super high quality and they are more than happy to make vegan custom pies. I'm heading there tonight :)

Marrrrs!

Cinnaholic is indeed the shiitake if you like cinnamon buns. You can also get Pepples Donuts in the city and in Berkeley (at Coffee Conscious I think). I dunno about general bakeries though!

Ahhh decision paralysis!

I do indeed like cinnamon buns. I do indeed!

Is Mission Chinese Food still there? If so, it's forking amazing.

What's this about the Bay Area not having impressive foods? I vote the Bay Area for food 100x above PDX! So much variety! I am starving just thinking about all the places I used to eat in the Mission and Inner Sunset/Richmond, but across the Bay is amazing too.

It's just one person's opinion. I've found Portland has much more variety, depth and innovation than anything in the Bay. It's definitely a foodie town but not all that vegan forward. Mission Chinese is still there. What other places did you frequent?

Best vegan pizza is at the Cheese Board Collective in Berkeley featuring the Butcher's Son vegan fresh mozzarella. You can only order whole pies though by going to the front, putting your order in and waiting in line. The vegan cheese melts perfectly! It's super delicious.

FYI - The Butcher's Son is a vegan deli with a store front opening up on University Ave in Berkeley soon.

Best Chinese food is at Nature Vegetarian in Oakland Chinatown.

Best bakery is Timeless Coffee in Oakland.

I didn't know Cheese Board now had Butcher's Son mozzarella! I always figured they were a no-go for me, but now I'll have to check them out. Thanks for the tip! I've been eagerly awaiting BS's opening over on Solano Ave, but since I know they are dealing with Berkeley zoning laws I know it must be a nightmare and a half so I just trust they're patiently wading through the oceans of red tape and I will be able to give them all my stupid money very, very soon.

Does anyone know if the new GF crust at Cheese Board is vegan?
