My friends have found a stray cat who appears to be pregnant, they have been feeding her and trying to take care of her the best they can, when she has her kittens they plan to adopt one, but they will need a no kill shelter for the rest. They live in Oakland, do you have any recommendations on a place they could contact? I know this time of year lots of shelters fill up quickly and I know they will want to do all they can to help this cat and her babies.

Nothing? Come on guys! The Mama had her babies yesterday - 6 of them! What about elsewhere in the Bay Area? They have moved the cats into their house until the kittens are weaned.

This page has a huge list of shelters:

Maybe something on there will work out?

If the babies are still around call the SF/SPCA. They (generally) do underage kitten intake from all bay area counties if they are eating on their own.

I work at a small local cat shelter. We are pretty full up but reluctant to turn away needy cases, its a last ditch choice if you need. PM if you still need help and I can put you in touch with the shelter owner
