I just started running, and I am looking for a non-paved path since running on pavement has usually caused me to develop shin splints in my past running attempts. The Wissahickon trails seem great, but I am looking for something closer to Center City for a quick run. The Schuykill path is all paved as far as I remember. Where are your favorite running paths?

I don't know about anything in the city, but the nature trail in Haverford would be perfect.

Wissahickon is the only non-paved path I can think of. Oh and the Towpath in Manayunk.
I like running the Ben Franklin Bridge and down Delaware Ave. because they are both close to my house. Longer runs I meander through Fairmount Park.

There are always people running along the Schuykill but off to the side of the path in the grass. It's so common, in fact, that there's a path worn into the grass that's not that much softer than the asphalt. There is also room to the side of the road on the loop in FDR park.

I second Wissahickon Gorge. That place is awesome. For a while, I was meeting up with some group once a week and going for a 3 hour hike there.
