Have you guys heard about this place? It's on S. 11th St, nice and close to all the East Passyunk action. I got a little sneak peak last night, and the mini sandwich and soup I tried were pretty delicious. I'm very curious to see what it will be like when they're finally open.

Oh damn, I'm never leaving South Philly! I can't wait till this place opens. Just what we need though, a casual spot that is hopefully reasonably priced!

Sweet! It looks like I'll be staying in Passyunk Thursday nights next semester for my internship, so I'll definitely have to try to hit this place up. Good think I'm also working more hours next semester, because I'm gonna need the money so I can try all the awesome new places I haven't had a chance to hit up yet!

I ate here this past Sunday for brunch and my overall review was that it was just okay. I was hoping that this would be a place I could frequent that offered affordable, casual vegan fare since it is in my neighborhood, but sadly, I don't see myself going back that often. The menu doesn't sound very cohesive or particularly interesting and the dinner prices are a bit exorbitant. Dinner entrees are priced at $15-20, and at that price point, I'd only dine there on special occasions. And quite honestly, if I were celebrating something special, there are better options in the city. $19 for baked ziti? No thanks.

For brunch, I got the tempeh hash which was pretty good and well seasoned It was tempeh, sweet potatoes and regular potatoes sauteed together with a poached half avocado and a tasty Benedict-style sauce. My partner got the pancakes which were so great in concept - had a nice vanilla-y flavor, light and fluffy, BUT they were slightly undercooked in the middle and for 2 medium size pancakes, $11 and change is a bit much. Total bummer on the pancakes. We also got a side of tofu bacon (thin slices of tofu that were covered in brown sugar and copious amounts of paprika among other spices - probably baked until super chewy) and breakfast potatoes that were well seasoned. Brunch came to $42 and I neglected to read the note about how the tip was included in the price and ended up paying a lot of money for a just decent breakfast. (The kicker is when my partner and I went to the Pop Shop in NJ the next day and spent $20 for breakfast and had leftovers for days. However, comparing a popular omni place to a small vegan place that pays their employees well isn't really comparative, but you know. Money to food ratio is important.)

Anyway, I hate to be such a debby downer. I really wanted to like this place and frequent all the time, but it really was a bit of a disappointment.

I got the tempeh hash with poached avocado over the weekend, and I thought it was wonderful. The tempeh and potatoes were so flavorful and the avocado and hollandaise were perfect. I can't wait to try the rest of the brunch offerings.

I'm a bit shocked about the dinner prices. I hope the quality of the food and portion size matches the price. Kind of a weird starting menu. I am sad that I'm not dying to try anything, but I'm curious about the ziti.

I just want comfort food. Mac 'n' cheese. Biscuits and gravy. Tofu pot pie. So, like, carbs. Can someone plz open a Carb Commissary? I will be your #1 Customer.

I am not aware of a vegan mac 'n' cheese in Philly. I'm mostly ok with that because the Amy's frozen vegan mac is so good and even shitty ACME carries it.

The POPE mentions they offer vegan cheese for their baked mac and cheese on their menu, but I've never gotten it or asked about it. The one at Full Plate used to be pretty good too! I used to love that place, RIP.

I never got to try A Full Plate's version. They were somehow always out of it when I went. I've had the POPE's vegan cheese sauce and I'm not a huge fan. Sometimes it tastes like it's just flour and vegetable stock...and I'm pretty sure it is...

if you havent been to their new place Cedar Point, you should go. the wings are the best in the city IMO. plus they are 1/2 off during happy hour!

OK, so I've tried a few more things here. The kale salad is great. It has tofu bits, almonds, shaved carrots, and a creamy dressing. Really, really good. The butternut squash gnudi is delicious as well.

Sadly, not a fan of the ziti, polenta, or burger...
