Anything east beyond, say, Good Dog, is like visiting the Orient. I called my personal driver (my one friend with a car) and went to Ikea yesterday. It was like a daytrip. I feel like I should have sent postcards or something. But there are spots in the city in which to potluck, right? Like, a patch of grass here and there...

Also, if they have any happy hour specials that might offer discounted margaritas, can we take advantage of those? Just putting it out there. Philadelphegan, I hope you come out. Let's get nerdy and talk drexel's msis program. I'm down for that. I badmouth the school a lot, but that's actually something of a strength I think, so I won't come off old and curmudgeonly, just old. And for now, my calendar is open that week.

Ohh badmouthing is okay, I did my undergrad there and graduated 3 years ago. I really enjoyed it for the most part, I had some pretty decent professors. But I have heard that all my favorites are no longer there, which is a slight bummer.
Anywaay, due to the nice weather, I think I take back my vote for cantina and place it in the potlock in the park hat. Rittenhouse or Clark Park, which just re-opened yesterday, are both easily accessible. Rittenhouse would fit in you twos 9 block radius rule.

I like the potluck in a park idea! We had one in Rittenhouse a couple years ago and it worked out pretty nicely. A couple people can bring blankets, everyone could bring their own plates and cutlery..
I vote for Saturday the 25th! Does that work for anyone?

And then we'll get forkstabbed. Other options for Ms. 9-block radius (I'm personally okay with Rittenhouse) would be Fitler Square, Schuylkill River Park, the riverbank, and the vacant lot next to the Blue Cross building.

Also, don't plan around me because, as has already happened for this weekend, work can break my plans like a kit kat.

Sorry I havent been paying attention to this. But I def want to picnic! Did you guys decide on a date yet?
Can I suggest Laurel Hill Cemetary as a location? It might be a pain to get to, but its a pretty amazing spot with a great view of the city.
Eta: Joe and I would be willing to pick people up in the city on the way. And I have a picnic basket!

Well there are grassy areas under trees too. But I understand.

:) You should definitely plan it though it looks lovely, and I can't see many free weekends for me this summer so doesn't matter what I think!

as a graduate from a landscape architecture program in philadelphia, i am rather embarrassed that i've never been to laurel hill. i've driven past it many times, but never actually went in and you know, observed the design and whatnot.

Its kind of unreal how pretty it is. You know, for being a cemetary and all.
