So I might try to rework my schedule so I can come, because I want my mentee from this month's Vegan Pledge to go to see how fun and easy vegan dinner can be!

Aw crepe, I'm already coming to West Philly that same night for something else at the exact same time and I haven't yet figured out how to be in two places at once :(

Leila Fusfeld organized one last year and now she has a great new organization doing it - Peace Advocacy Network. So I'm a mentor. (Dynah are you doing it this year?) http://www.peaceadvocacynetwork.org/veganpledge.shtmlAwesome! My mentee last year was a 60+ y.o. woman who lived in the suburbs, and it was just so cool to see all these older people pay attention to veganism in addition to the college-aged people that normally do. So there are meetings for 4 Saturdays, shopping trips, dinners, &c.

I completely missed this thread somehow. Abyssinia is the best, and I can do Wednesday at 7.

I am back from the meet up and posting in the forum! (I refuse to write phorum, I can't do it.) It was great to see everyone (and meet xstartxtodayx for the first time!), and the food was awesome as usual. I hope the first timers enjoyed their Ethiopian experience.
Next month we are aiming for either Nick's Vegan (I have never heard of this before) or Memphis Taproom.

It was nice to meet you guys! I'm excited for next month's trip!
In the spring time can we do a brunch potluck? I want to make cornbread waffles and southern fried chicken! (Which is what I meant to bring up in our brunch convo, but failed to remember.) I just bought blue cornmeal from the co-op, it would be perfect for this.

Lovely dinner tonight, y'all! Ethiopian food is awesome.
It looks like Nick's might be for-real. The internet (their website) says the cafe hours are 11-7 Tuesday-Sunday, Cash Only! But I won't believe it until our secretary gets back to us.

I emailed them a bit ago. "things are a little hectic this week as opening to the public has us scrambling , but we are open . mention the word ' love ' when you come in and get 20 % off your entire bill . tell the guys nick , said so . please call ahead and let us know how many people will be in your party and a time as i would like to be there to solicit your feedback . thanks for reaching out . nick" so game on... personally i wouldnt mind going sooner than later. maybe do 2 meetups a month for special occasions??!

Yes please! I kinda dont want to wait til next month either. Since theyre only open til 7, this would probably have to be a weekend meetup. How about next saturday or sunday, the 29th or 30th? Would this work for the majority?
I want brunch so bad right now. Waffles and cinnamon rolls, mmm! Maybe we dont have to wait til spring? Perhaps we can discuss during our next meeting?

I just want to go to A Full Plate again. Granola-crusted french toast, get in my belly.

OMG, yes. BRUNCH!!! That's the most coherent thing I could say about brunch because I love it so much. Well, actually, I love late breakfast. Growing up, actual "brunch" always seemed to be just bagels, lox, and fruit salad (with mostly melon - yuck). Anywho, I don't think we have to wait until spring for a potluck if someone can host. I wouldn't mind having everyone over again, but my dogs are kind of crazy (As amandabear's mangled finger from the May waffle party can attest. That may be a slight exaggeration.)
