I went home to the suburbs today and had lunch in Suburban Square (Ardmore) with my mom. Guess what - Zinman Furs (grosss) went out of business. Guess what even better - a salad place is there now! And it's SOOOO GOOD. Called Sweet Green, and they have all the vegan salad dressings and suggested combos labeled vegan. But you just look at the big spread of toppings and options and what not and point while saying 'I want that and that and that and that..." I got a mesclun mix with a shittonne of SPICY CRISPY KALE (omg), chickpeas, roasted butternut squash, mushrooms, spicy quinoa (!), slivered almonds, a cranberry dressing...I think there was more. And you get a good piece of bread. I think it was $8-9 which may be a lot but it's due to the area, I think, and also it's a lot of food. I am so excited to have something like this at home! Wahoo

I went here again last night with my fam and the guy behind the yogurt section of the counter asked if I wanted a sample and I said no and upon further pressing said I was vegan. So the guy wrote down the email address of the owners and told me to contact them with any ideas I had for how to make things more vegan friendly, any ideas for what to do for a frozen yogurt style vegan option, &c. He said they are always looking to better accommodate special dietary needs. Amazing!
