Whoa, didn't realize Nick's was going to open a restaurant! Grindcore House has been getting baked goods from them for a few months now and I've been super-impressed with what I have tried (pound cakes, banana muffins, chocolate chip congo bar). Very excited about ordering Mac 'n' Cheese!

Great news!! Right across the street from my driving range! My own little piece of heaven!
[ETA: there's already a Nick's there, btw. It's new - opened about a year ago - and it's a sandwich counter-type place with lots of meat and fish dishes. What's up with that.]

I want meatloaf! Cheese fries! Very very very excited.
I hope they expand their baked goods at some point. I want something citrusy. Lemon bars or key lime pie or something.. Their stuff is so good, dudes. Not ridiculously sweet, full of good ingredients, but not TOO healthy.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Haha. Seriously though, this is awesome. There are so many new vegan places popping up in Philly; it makes me really happy.

This is exciting! The menu and prices sound very reasonable. is this place open yet? Has anybody been there before?

I was hitting some golf balls this weekend at the range right across the street from Nick's Vegan. Or should I say, Nick's Front-For-Something-Shady.
Either they weren't open at about 1pm on a Saturday, or it just really really seemed that way. No, I didn't actually check. The recycling bin in front of the door seemed like an indicator that they didn't want to be bothered.
[ETA: So like, what's up with that?]

There was a semi-recent facebook post that they closed again in order to "focus on wholesale distribution" of their baked goods. But I don't see them around anymore.

It's a shame, of course. I don't know much about such things, but it seems like it's not a great spot for an eat-in place, but as a wholesale and/or delivery location it could be pretty good, right? I mean, it's right there on a somewhat serviceable road and it has all of Fairmount and Brewerytown as a (residential) delivery radius. If I'm right then it'll be a Papa Johns or lottery stand soon enough.

yah that area doesnt have much foot traffic unfortunately. you really have to go there solely to get some food as its not really on the way to anything in the city. might as well keep it open to the public to eat in if you were going to deliver since there is a good deal of seating in there. also i was assuming Nick's was this as well viewtopic.php?f=43&t=10555

Or court the vegan golfers at the practice range across the street, though I'm probably 100% of that market. Eric. wrote: also i was assuming Nick's was this as well viewtopic.php?f=43&t=10555The thought had crossed my mind as well. I remember looking back there when it was the place it was before it was Nick's - big kitchen. I hope something works out. There's nothing else to eat up at the range. Beside's the location, is there a sense that this might indicate we've reached a saturation point for local vegan joints? Or is it all about the location and the execution of the business?

haha i bet you do make up 100% of that business :)
no i dont think its a saturation. i think for food like that you need foot traffic since many of the items you could find at other restaurants across the city, the only difference would be less selection. I know personally I don’t want to go too far out of my way if I could get the same type of thing closer or if I couldmake it myself.
