For anyone wondering when/if that restaurant space next to the pet store and across from L'Oca is ever going to open, and if it'd be worth checking out: http://farerestaurant.comA (vegan-ish) friend of mine just took a server job there, and says she is excited about the menu, despite the fish-on-a-fork on their homepage. That is one damn yuppie neighborhood now, eh?

That's a really innovative experience - the whole calorie-counting website thing. Not a very veganesque menu and not easy on the wallet, but otherwise it does look yummy. I'm already jonesing some carrot ginger soup.

Not sure what the final menu will look like, but the one on the website keeps changing. It used to have a Sushi Bowl with Tempeh and a Farro & Kale Salad. So who knows...I am checking it out next week and will report back. The soups sound really good, as do the juices and smoothies, and I love Blue Bottle Coffee.

Oh I haven't heard of Fare. Kind of confusing with both coming out at the same time. I was looking forward to Pure Fare since I'm so close, but the only vegan or veganizable items seem like things I make or can make wonderful versions of at home. :/ Hope the menu gets more creative. Makes me sad that the kale salad (my faaave food) has turkey and cheese. Weird to me.

Went here for dinner a few days ago. I believe there were 2 vegan entrees, but they also said they could sub vegan cheese in anything. I got the raw cashew cheese appetizer which was mild, but pretty tasty. It comes with a small salad (unexciting) and little toast pieces (good for cheese-spreading). For an entree, I had spicy bbq seitan with polenta and broccoli raab. It was ok, but pretty unexciting. The polenta & raab had zero seasoning or flavor or anything. Raab can be simple and amazing with a bit of garlic, but theirs was simple and boring.
Overall, I enjoyed the experience because of the nice atmosphere (it was an anniversary thing, so we wanted something fancier) and variety of choice, but probably wouldn't go back. Besides the cashew cheese, I am not impressed with their ability to make tasty vegan things.

I want to go to PureFare for lunch one day. Just don't really have the time to walk over there. These days I'm lucky if I can take a lunch break.

And the waitress told us all the desserts could be veganized and I got really excited and then she came back and told me they couldn't. I thought I was going to get me some chocolate cake!

Our anniversary is Halloween and we had planned to go out Saturday but it snowed, and Wed. was the next time I could make it out. Dos Segundos is a good idea. I bet you had much tastier celebration food than I did!
