I know lots of people need to to take medicines that aren't vegan. This isn't about that. I wondered if there are vegan stuffs available for minor ailments, like (in my case at the moment) cough medicines, throat sweets, headache tablets, tummy upset stuff. I very rarely take anything but this cough is doing my head in. I found some cough medicine in our bathroom cabinet but I was far less bothered by the honey than the expiry date of 1997!

Halls Soothers are mostly (all?) vegan. The Cadbury's website states which: http://nutrition.cadbury.co.uk/epages/S ... cts/785097I'm pretty sure that Covonia's website used to state that some of their products were vegan, but they've now helpfully gone down the route of having a shiitake site. Of all the major brands however they're the one that is most likely to be suitable. Ibruprofen / Paracetemol wise we tend to use generic non-lactose/geletine containing tablets from companies we don't boycott. Someone contacted a load of manufacturers years ago and found only one obscure supplier willing to say "vegan".

Veganin is really good for period pain and headaches, and is marketed as suitable for vegetarians and vegans (well, it would be if anyone bothered marketing it). Paracetamol + codeine + caffeine.
eta: this is probably the obscure manufacturer Mr Flibble mentioned. I went in to my local chemist and asked for it by name and they had it, but behind the counter.

The vegan society has a page listing meds that are vegan, ingredients wise. Several major brands listed. I van look for it later when I'm not on my fiddly phone, if no one else links it before then.
