Just been to Sainsbury's at Monk's Cross York. They have all the vegan stuff everyone has been talking about & more! Yay! Chocolate raisins, chocolate coin/discs, the cauldron chickpea & sweet potato veggie roast which is labelled vegan & the lentil dhansak which doesn't seem to be labelled but is according to the website. The also had some sweet desert wine that was vegan too. They had all the free from tiffin, ginger cake, millionaire shortbread etc too. Gosh it was hard to resist buying everything!

...hmmm just had some of the cauldron veggie roast thing. You have to cook it with the plastic film on it which I didn't really like & I can't say it was very nice. I thought it was a bit dry & tasteless really. Luckily I make a fantastic gravy which helped to make it more edible! Anyone else tried it?

Yeah, we weren't that impressed. It was a bit bland and a bit fiddly. Don't think I'd bother with it again. We had the cauldron adzuki bean kievs though this evening, and they were really nice.

I had the Cauldron roast once ages ago. IIRC, it fell apart pretty easily and was kinda dry, but it was otherwise tasty. I don't think I bought it again because it wasn't really worth the money when it wasn't on sale. I've never had the kievs - I'll see if I can find them.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but co-op's puff pastry mince pies from their bakery bit are vegan. I've yet to try one, but they are in my house waiting to be eaten, so I'll report back shortly!

We thought it was rubbish too - contained whole chickpeas which just didn't seem to work.

Similar but not as good as McSweens haggis (which isn't in itself that good either).
