I spoke at a conference recently, and instead of something useful like chocolate or wine, they gave me a big voucher for WHSmith. I haven't been in Smith's for about the last twenty years, except a couple of years ago to try and find a new address book for my mother-in-law, and they were all old-fashioned shiitake.
Anyone know of anything worth buying in Smith's these days? Does anyone under the age of 60 ever shop there? Or should I just pass the voucher on for a raffle prize?

Haha, awww. You could stock up on stationary and printer ink?
Actually, I just had a look at their website and you can get anything on there delivered to store for free- they seem to have lots of vegan cookbooks, among other things.
eta: On second thoughts, maybe you have to pay first for stuff and I'm thinking of years ago when you could pay when you collected... I can't be arsed to give them my email address to find out though.

I'd get magazines, stationary, wrapping paper & cards. I doubt you'd have to spend it all in one go so you could just pick up a magazine a fortnight until it runs out!

They will order books for you if they don't have them in stock, then you could just pay with your token?

books books and more books, cooking or fiction. If you got a huge amount, then just buy books for your familys birthday and xmas presents until they run out...
Oooh maybe they will exchange them for theater vouchers.. I get my parents theater vouchers from smiths.

I'd invest in postage stamps, only a couple of weeks left to buy them at the 'bargain' prices! And you can stick them on parcels if you don't send letters/cards

They have cute-food stationary atm. Ya know.. pictures of cartoon foods and put a cute lil smiley face on it :) I'd say buy a good vegan cookbook, But I've never found one in there myself because I dont know why but EVERYTIME I go in WHSmiths and try and look at cookbooks I need to pee really badly, so I'm never in long. OR stock up on birthday cards etc. so then you can just pull one out of the draw for someone if you forget a birthday/holiday.

Not that you could spend the whole voucher on this, but one of our local ones sells Vegetarian Living magazine, which I really like. They do DVDs as well.

I buy most of my cookbooks from smiths because they always have loads really reduced (70% off a lot of the time). And their premium narrow ruled paper is pretty much the best A4 lined paper ever! (I'm fussy about paper...) Pens always come in handy. And last time I was in there I saw some really nice notebooks.
