Well, I've delurked..... and feel somewhat sheepish about my first post being a cry for help.

I have a small relative with an egg allergy and I need to do pancakes for her on Tuesday. I loaned my 'Vegan Brunch' book to someone a few months ago and now I can't get hold of the 'crepe' recipe in time. (I want to do a rehearsal batch on Sunday if possible.)

Can anyone here link me the recipe? Or suggest a different recipe that I can try?

Thanks everyone,
Pancake Aunty

The best pancake recipe is actually on this website, theppk.com.

Hi Randi,

Yes, I know.. but it has to be crepe-style, because that's what we have in England on Shrove Tuesday / Pancake Day.

So I could do the pancake recipes on here, but they would be American style thick ones, and she wants to have the same thin ones as the rest of the family.

And in the Brunch book there are two distinct recipes for pancakes and crepes.

Unless you mean that there is a crepe recipe on the ppk site??? I searched but couldn't find one.

Thanks for the reply though.

Excellent!

I'm going to do rehearsals on Sunday, I'm looking forward to it!

Hopefully I'll be able to post next week to say how it went on Tuesday.

Now I'm wondering if vegan pancakes will cope with flipping in the same way as traditional ones.

So long as you've got a flat crepe pan and the crepe is thoroughly cooked on the first side, it should be okay (but I'd cook up a stack in advance just in case the flipping goes flippin' wrong...)

And why are you lurking? - now you're out in the sunshine, stay and play with the rest of us!

They worked!
Different, interesting though.

And now I'm going to have to find some fun recipes to use up the gram flour. I'm off to search the main site now.

if you have gram flour, your only real option is SOCCA. Do a search and have fun. It is sooooo delicious.

The baked falafel in Appetite For Reduction use chickpea flour and are super tasty.

Socca looks enticing! I'm going to google about for some consenus on recipes and give it a try. And I've just looked at the baked falafel recipe in Appetite for Reduction and it's mouthwatering. I'm scared of deep-fat frying so I've never done homemade falafel, but I can definitely manage this recipe.

Now that I've dug out 'Appetite' I'm going to look through for any other recipes that use gram flour. I bought the book a while ago, but I've hardly used it. If anyone has favourite recipes from it then do please let me know what you recommend! I found it a bit overwhelming at first, it's got so much in it and I think I was a little intimidated and that's why I haven't used it much.

Thanks for the suggestions you've all made so far.

Onion bhajis are deffo the way to go to use up your gram flour. Yummo and easy, and you can fry them in a couple of cms of oil in a deep frying pan or wok if you don't want to deep fry.
