Just wanted to give a heads up to anyone who might want to check their Vitamin D levels. I got mine done last week and found out I am severely deficient, so I am now taking a high IU supplement.

The testing is done by an NHS hospital in Birmingham and is pretty reasonable at £20 including the posting of the testing kit to you and back to the centre. I understand that to do this privately would cost a lot more.

Info here: http://www.vitamindtest.org.uk

Ironically my mum, who is not vegan but has just about every deficiency under the sun and chronic ME, also got tested and had normal levels! For once she is more healthy than I am in some aspect.

If you're concerned about vitamin levels your GP will normally arrange a test for free

That is true, but this one gives both D2 and D3 levels, the standard test at the GP doesn't give detailed results.
