Hi all,

I've never flown from there before and although I can use the website to see which chains are inside the terminal, I was wondering
if there's much around it? We're driving down the night before and staying at the terminal, but is there anywhere to walk to to get an evening meal
in the area? Can you even walk around there or is it in the middle of nowhere?

Thanks.

I'm working on a blog post about T5 right now!

You cannot walk anywhere to get an evening meal aside from places inside the airport. You can get the tube into central London though, I would guess Hammersmith might be the closest place with walkable vegan options otherwise Green Park / Picadilly / Leicester Sq / Covent Garden are on that tube line.

I stand corrected about Hammersmith, there's a veggie place close to Hounslow Central which is 3 stops out of the airport. http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant ... gland.html

Edited to add - even closer, these are both near Hounslow West!

I only just realised last night that my husband flew from Terminal 5 last year! I'm not at really bothered about finding a veggie place as long as I can eat, and I'll be with omnis anyway. He ate in a South Indian place in Hounslow, so it looks like we'll be heading that way, depending on timings. I'll report back!

I haven't been, and I don't know its capacity, but Super Singh's is a vegetarian restaurant right close to Hatton Cross tube (1 stop from LHR).

When I flew out of Heathrow T5 last year to go to Brazil, I ended up getting food at Pret a Manger as the only place I could find with vegan food in the airport. I found this webpage handy: http://www.heathrowairport.com/shop,-ea ... ry-options

Outside of the airport itself, it's not in the centre of London by any means, but it is on the London Underground so getting into the city centre for an evening meal would be pretty easy.

Well, I just found out last night that we aren't even staying in the terminal, but at a Travelodge 7 miles away. It has a Toby Carvery on site and a few things around it.
We also might even end up eating before we go and arriving late, so I might not need to think about the night before, just breakfast at the airport which will be easy enough. And then of course my fantastic BA Vegan meal, before my 3 hours at Moscow Domodyedova which will be crammed full of vegan options I know.
