rachell37 wrote: Sad news - I don't think the Co-op custard donuts are vegan anymore. This site has links for Asda, Co-op, Tesco, and Sainsbury's vegan items (the Asda one is seriously outdated and wrong on a lot of things). The Co-op list has the jam donuts, but not the custard ones. I was in Scotmid today, but it was late and they were out of donuts, so I couldn't verify by checking the label. Also, the only list that has bourbons is Asda, and it's probably wrong. We bought some custard donuts a couple of weeks ago - the ingredients hadn't changed. The list on that site is dated March 2010 - I'm pretty sure they were still labelling them as being vegan (before removing due to possible cross contamination) back then.

I've only ever had the sticks of Earth Balance (not the tubs) and I really don't like it much except for baking. Is the stuff from the tubs nicer?

I've only tried the tubs, and I think there a few types. I loved it. But then I'm no huge fan of Vitalite; it tastes like cheap margarine, which I suppose is what it is. EB tastes like butter.

So I got annoyed with not being able to buy vital wheat gluten off the shelf anywhere, and emailed Infinity to ask why they didn't sell it. Here is their response: Quote: Thank you for your e-mail. I don't think we've had any requests for this product before and seeing as we are so short of space in our Brighton shop, I don't think it is something that we would consider stocking in the near future. We are always open to new suggestions though and if we notice a demand for this product then we will think again. Best wishes Has no-one asked for it before? Is it a case of 'ahh well, it's not here, I won't request it?' If you think Infinity should stock it, drop them a line at info@infinityfoodsretail.co.uk kindly telling them so, and we might see a change!

And I'm sad just now cos I've run out and they only had Pure in Sainsbury's yesterday (and to add insult to injury, it was the green one!)

I emailed infinity foods, pretended I live there! Your challenge for today is to make a banana hot chocolate and dip a fry's chocolate cream in it. We have a vegetarian house and one of my housemate's veggie boyfriend spends a lot of time here, and feels bad that hes used our shower etc, as it costs us money. to say thanks, he got us a massive tin of quality street, then remembered the veganism when offering me them. he felt so bad he went out and bought me 8 fry's chocolate creams!=D

When I've asked for gluten powder in health food stores before they've thought I'm trying to be funny and take the peas out of the gluten free products they sell. I would email them and ask, but you Brightoners have life far too easy already :p

Yeah, I can't get it anywhere in Belfast atm, it's making me soooooo sad :[ I'm going to try Sainsbury's in Lisburn later. They said they are in talks with Tesco to start stocking it.

was all excited that Real Foods might have tinned pumpkin but it's not on their website... Can't get a Waitrose delivery here either.
No idea how RF make any money doing free postage, my last order cost half of what I'd spent in postage, bizarre...

Has anyone heard of / used Samy hair products? I noticed them in Superdrug today and one of the conditioners said Vegan on the front. I looked them up and it seems all their shampoos and conditioners are, but not sure about the styling products. And they don't use SLS, which I like.
I didn't buy any as I've not heard of them before. So I've emailed them to find out and also about their animal testing policy as it doesn't say on their website.
EDIT: I just got this reply back from them....
Hello Sarah.
First I would like to thank you for asking us about our products and considering them. Our products are 100% vegan and we do not under any circumstances test on animals. If you would like a coupon please email me back with your address. Please email me back if you have anymore questions. Thank you and have a wonderful day!

Ooh. I would like a deep conditioning treatment for my fringe, it does take a bit of hammering from my straighteners. I looked in Superdrug last night but didn't spot anything. Any recommendations?
