We'll be taking the train. I think Saturday we are going to Stonehenge first, and then we're staying in Bath Sat. night and returning Sunday afternoon. I hope we go to Demuths! It looks really good. Ruby Rose where are you?

See that Stonehenge, and the big road leading down from it into Salisbury? That's my road, that is.

Awesome! I didn't realize that's where you lived. So do you suggest doing anything else around there?

The Roman Baths are interesting but a little expensive. The Abbey is really, really nice inside. There are often free galleries and exhibitions sort of hidden in the city, but how they advertise is beyond me. Bath is a nice enough place to just wander round in.
If you expect to go to Demuths, book a table, it is a small place and gets very busy. If you can, ask for the little booth bit at the back; it's really cute and secluded and very romantic.
I actually find Bath a little difficult as a vegan, but I grew up in Lewes (which is near Brighton) where you couldn't move without tripping over a lentil burger. So, I'm used to being spoilt for choice. Anyway, it's better than lots of places.

Yeah, I never had any problem at all finding good vegan food in Bath in all the many years I lived there, but it may be that Gulliver's tastes and mine are different. I don't imagine you'll have any problem at all. And you won't be reduced to lentil burgers.

What's that health food shop on the main square in Salisbury? Well Fit, or something equally hilarious? I had a really good something with chickpeas and spinach in there (slice of pie? maybe it was a wrap...it was hella good anyway, and the ladies were really nice to me).
If you have time in Salisbury you should go and stare at the copy of the Magna Carta held in the cathedral.

Well Natural. Not quite so funny. But it's near Shakeaway, and that makes up for everything.

Ahhh what am I supposed to get there? ginger nuts & maple syrup seems to be a popular choice among PPKers. chocolate & cherry is good, as is chocolate/coconut, chocolate & PB, chocolate & raspberry...

I had an amazing meal in Demuths last time I was in Bath. It's not ultra-cheap, but it is well worth the money.

ooh oscars weekend. I only ever watch the red carpet and fashion police which is on E! but I don't know if the actual ceremony is on over here.
Last year I THINK it was on Sky Movies, but I don't have the movie channels.

The Fudge Kitchen in Bath usually has dairy free fudge. Its in the Abbey Churchyard which is the square with the Roman Baths entrance and the front of the Abbey in it. Its covered by scaffolding at the moment but its still there. Theres a vegan working there 12-4 Sunday too. Demuth's is great. Lunch menu a little cheaper. There's also a lovely bagel place on the street joining the main street where Lush is on the corner.

I've had great food at the Forester and Flower pub in Combe Down in the past - the chef is (or used to be) Rastafarian, and was always really keen and helpful to prepare something vegan if the special wasn't already vegan. Haven't been there for a year or more, but worth checking out if you're in that neck of Bath.

I wish Combe Down wasn't such a long way for me to go, otherwise i'd be in that pub all the time.
Coral Quay, the fairtrade shop which has a fairtrade cafe on the second floor now does a vegan toastie which is yummy (there's more to it than just a toastie however). Also, their soy milk frappes are good too on a hot day. I have yet to try the coffee flavoured one but the chocolate and vanilla are both nice. They use the vegan sweetbird syrup which I guess gives it such a strong flavour.

I didn't know where else to put this really but has anyone noticed that starbucks seem to have stopped selling the vegan panini?? I always look for it when I go in just to see an nowhere near me has them anymore. Not that it was all that great, but it was good to have another option at service stations.

Definitely go to Demuth's - it's awesome! Also Yak Yeti Yak has plenty of vegan options, including pudding :-)
On Kingsmead Square there is also Boston Tea Partym Yum Yum Thai and a Noodle Bar which I think should have a few vegan options.
If you are eating on the run, Scwartz Bros vege, chickless and bean burgers are all vegan, and Harves on Walcot Street has quite a nice Deli with Sandwiches, cakes and other nice vegan things.

Have they changed the recipe for Linda Mac sausages or what? They seem different. Better, different, but still different.
We should have a 'space to post things that don't go with any other topic'-esque thread in here.
