Is anything going on then? Does anyone want to make something awesome happen? My boyfriend has a boys weekend (freaking Estonia and Finland) and I'm jealous, so I want to do something equally or more awesome. I was hoping to go to Florence (my favorite place), Ireland and/or Scotland (for the first time!), or really anywhere, but I don't really want to go alone. Or how about staying in London and partying. Is anyone up for a trip out of the country? Is anyone around for in town fun? Help me Rhonda! I'm open to ideas. :)

Hee hee, I love you for 'help me Rhonda' :)
You are more than welcome to crash up here at mine any time.
Whether anything is going on or not I could not say. I guess the Embra festival is probs about around then? Maybe? (i grew up in Edinburgh so tend to pretend it doesn't exist in the summer!)

No, the Festival won't start until the end of July (unless they changed the dates for the first time in 60-odd years). There's still some Film Festival stuff happening that weekend, though weekend stuff doesn't usually have celebs (apart from the Closing Film, which is already sold out). You're welcome to crash at mine as well. I'd just have to hoover the sofa bed since it's Zebby's preferred place to shed. ETA - Ugh, now I have that song stuck in my head.

Aw you guys are nice! I will definitely consider a trip to the queens of the North! (I really want to hashtag Ned Stark but I must accept that this isn't twitter.)

2 for the price of one! Cheap at half the price! Embra and Glesgae are but a wee train ride away from each other. Less than an hour, if I recall. Doooo eeeeeeet.

They changed the dates of the Film Festival a couple of years ago, so they very well could've changed the Fringe as well! Also, August, despite containing my birthday, continues to be my least favourite month because, instead of the TX heat, I now have to deal with festival tourists clogging up my streets and making the whole city smell of poo. Mike and I are actually going to Glasgow the weekend before (Macbeth!), but I could pop over again if it's more convenient for everyone to meet up in Glasgow. We'll eat better there anyway.

I've been told to go to Edinburgh on my first foray into Scottishlands, both for the loveliness, the food, and the hat stores. And since you're going to Glasgow the weekend before, Rachell, maybe that's better for you? Bang would you go to Edinburgh? I thought that had better food too! I'm so confused.

Well, I don't know from hat stores, but Glasgow has specifically vegan restaurants of varying quality, whereas Edinburgh can only pull off vegetarian (also of varying quality, it must be said). However, we can always go to Kalpna, which is amazing. But if you want non-Indian vegan food, your choices are more limited in Edinburgh. Also, desserts are not plentiful, though we do have a Shakeaway.
I just watched the trailer - so excited! Do let me know how Saramago is. I was gonna go last time I was in Glasgow but ran out of time. I'm just hoping the Smashing Tarts lady drops something off somewhere when we're there.

Omg I love Shakeaway. :P I'm definitely an ice cream over baked goods dessert-person. I'm going to open a soft-serve vegan parlor in every major city...someday...just fyi.

I read an article recently that said you need more intelligence to appreciate Glasgow. And a propensity to look upwards. Heheh. Embra is good, food-wise, if you like baked potatoes. And good generally if you're from London. Because it's full of people from London.
Anyhoo! Fuckdamnbollocks! I have to work that Saturday and cannot get out of it at all. Suckity SUCK. I can do the Sunday tho? What are the thoughts?

Sunday is OK for me. I can even stay up late because I'm off the Monday!
Ooh, and good call on The Chocolate Tree, jojo. They also have sorbet! And (sometimes) Marmite truffles, which are far more delicious than they might sound. And sea salt and caramel chocolate. Mmm.

Sounds good to me! Let me know if there's anything at the film festival you want to see. I'm seeing Shadow Dancer on the Friday, but other than that, I'm happy with whatever (well, except the Tim and Eric movie). And the offer of a sofa-bed still stands - just let me know!

Sunday, Sunday! I can be down with that. I will be brave for you and 'do' the Embra again. Hopefully I wont nearly break my arse this time round...

Did you break your arse again, or are you referring to the roller derby session? Because if you're breaking your arse every time you come here, you might want to invest in some of those padded pants.
OH, Mike and I went to Ann Purna tonight and it was excellent - I'm gonna say better than Kalpna - so that's another option. I mean, if you're gonna be here Saturday and Sunday, we'll need multiple places to eat (unless we make waffles for breakfast - OHMYGOD! let's have a waffle party on Sunday!!!!).

Let's totally have a waffle party! I haven't had waffles in years since another ppk meetup. I really need a waffle maker. And all the restaurants sound good. And potatoes! Haven't had a proper one yet! Bang would you be coming and going on Sunday or leaving Monday? I can do all sorts of schedule shifting since I'm desempleada. Is there roller derby??! I've never seen or done! Just so you guys know, 'traveling' for me is equivalent to 'going on a food tour' so I hope you have appetites and no shame.
