I just bought some crunchy speculoos in Sainsburys. I wasn't gonna, I was just looking to see if they had it because I have half of a big jar of smooth left. But they crunchy so I got it.

Note to self: hide jar from dad.

Tesco value malt loaf. This could be problematic.

I would love to see this entire list of supermarket items. I am very very stuck here in the UK.

I contacted ASDA about vegan stuff, and they are looking into getting more vegan stuff in stock, so fingers crossed they actually will and they weren't just saying it!

So glad I found this forum! Very helpful! :)

that would be quite a long list.

you're probably best off just checking the labels and emailing companies when you're not sure about a product.

The Vegan Society's book The Animal Free Shopper is very good and well worth getting hold of for vegans in the UK: http://www.vegansociety.com/hubpage.asp ... d=20838063

Thank you guys, I am going to look into getting the book for sure :) May even join the Vegan society if possible :)

I'm very noobish right now; I have started eating a lactose free diet for a while, as I am lactose intolerant, but I've now gone all the way.

Namaste!

Google for Tesco vegan list. It lists all of the vegan stuff in tesco. There is a good few pages on it and it includes the alcohol too! Also, Lidl have a list too.

While this says "do not use after Feb 2013", it's the latest Tesco vegan list available.

Slighlty off topic, but has anyone noticed that SIlver Spoon dark chocolate chips aren't being sold anymore? They disappeared from tesco weeks ago, so I had to trek all the way to the closest sainsbury's, which is a 40 minute bus ride away, but now they've stopped selling them as well! Does anyone know a reason for this? I've emailed Silver Spoon but am still waiting for an answer. I hope they're not changing the recipe to include milk powder or something stupid :(

Sainsbury's are selling their own brand dark chocolate chips that appear to be vegan (v in the green circle, no non-vegan ingredients), so maybe that's why they're not selling Silver Spoon. I think Tesco sell a different brand now, which of course aren't vegan. I haven't been able to find Silver Spoon in Tesco for months.

I usually smash a chocolate bar up to get chocolate chips. Is there really that much difference?

I gave up on trying to buy chocolate chips as well. Everything has bloody dairy. I now keep bars of dark, and df milk and white in the press and take a knife to them when the occasion calls for it.

Hmm they replied and said they were being sold as usual in Asda and Tesco, so no idea what's happened. There isn't really a difference between chips and chocolate that's been smashed up, but what can I say, I like my baking chocolate in round drop shape..... I'm strange like that. Thanks rachell37, I'll have a look next time I get to Sainsbury's, can't find them on the website!

I'm just jealous that my nearest Sainsbury's is a hundred miles away.... :)

I found vegan gnocchi at Asda for less than £1. I haven't eaten it yet so can't comment on the quality. I'll report back after I've had my dinner tomorrow.

The gnocchi was OK. A little bland, but it tasted alright with the sauce, and it was incredibly filling.

My Tesco now has a vegan section. There aren't a great many things that are vegan, but they had bacon popcorn (labeled vegan), Crisco, root beer, and a couple of other things. It's a little exciting.

There's a gnocchi in Tesco that is vegan. "Trattoria Verdi Potato Gnocchi." Only had it the once and can't remember whether it was good but it served it's purpose for a super quick dinner so I was happy.

Also, Tesco's bacon fries are vegan. Seriously addictive.

I love it when you say 'the press' as it reminds me of my childhood, it's a word I'd quite forgotten!

It is exciting to have a special section! It puts veganism on the radar a bit, might make people think.

I always shallow fry my gnocchi so it being bland wouldn't matter. I fry them til they start getting crispy and brown, then chuck in a splash of soy sauce - so tasty. (If you try this make sure to have a splatter guard or lid to hand as the soy sauce makes the oil spit, also take it off the heat almost immediately or it will burn.)

Haha, oops, I meant to say an American section! I wish it was all vegan!

Aww, I just thought you meant it was a small section when you said there wasn't much there!

The Little Waitrose around the corner from me has Nakd bars - 79p for the 30g size ... I bought an apple pie one. walked home eating it while lugging 3 litre of Alpro which was on offer 3 for 3 quid!

I have now ordered 18 apple pie 30g for £9.45 from Team Nutrition ...

I was tempted to try the cocoa one but have decided to try to steer away from choc for a while ... no doubt it will improve my character!

Wasn't sure where to put this but just came here to rant about how utterly disgusting Alpro plain yoghurt still is. I was hoping to find the new Joya one in Sainsburys today but they didn't have it so I picked up a pot of Alpro forgetting just how sweet it is. Honestly in a blind taste test i'd think it was vanilla. And now my VCON tempeh tacos are going to taste of vanilla. Sad face.

Nakd bars are awesome, the banana crunch and strawberry crunch ones are the best, and 50p each in Morrisons at the moment. Yay.
