Breakfast Cereal Thread

I'm off on a shop around trying to find cereals that are vegan friendly. Even though I usually have porridge, pancakes or overnight oats for breakfast I like to have a box or two of cereals around for munchies or days where I feel like having breakfast 3 times a day.

Thought it would be handy to have a thread for breakfast cereals to have them all in the one spot and save people having to do hard work like search websites and click links.

So to start off from the weetabix site:

It appears that Liga Original are fine too. I do love me some Liga with milk when I'm sick.

That Kellogs list makes me sad. Kellogs can cork off with their vitamin D3 additions!!

I know! Damn people who insist on eating unhealthy diets. They ruin cereal for the rest of us.

If you have a Waitrose nearby, there are tons of vegan-friendly own brand cereals there. We've been downing the malted wheat squares lately (baby and mommy friendly at the same time). They sell Good Earth brand cornflakes too, which are vegan friendly (and maybe organic, I think?)

Jordan's Strawberry Country Crisp is vegan. I think the others are as well, but not sure as honey lurks in lots of their stuff.

They also sell loads of Nature's Path cereals, which are surprisingly not too expensive, as they're in the Free From section. O's are a favorite with the bean: http://www.waitrose.com/shop/ProductVie ... th+org+O's

All about the Jordan's Country Crisp! The strawberry, raspberry and nut ones are all good. Waitrose also do a similar own brand granola, berry and nut flavours. Morrisons do they BEST one in the world but it's so ridiculously sweet I tend to just eat it for desert! Strawberry and maple pecan (<33333) flavours.

I've also discovered a new (?) brand called Fuel in Tesco, basically granola with pumpkin seeds and chocolate chips in it.....

Sadly no waitrose here. We only have Tesco, Aldi, lidl, Dunnes and Superquinn.

Fuel seems interesting!

Aldi cornflakes seem to be vegan. No D3 in there! Thank God...... I don't like having to spend too much on a "boring" cereal.

The Jordan's chocolate country crisp looked as if it may be vegan on my quick scan today, I'd read it again before buying though.

I think Aldi cheerios are vegan.

Last time I checked, Tesco's multi-grain fake Cheerios were vegn. Those weren't sickly sweet, iirc.

Oh, sorry. I'm not sure of the exact name, but I searched for "apple crisp" and it came up.

I picked up a box of Sainsbury's new cinnamon malties and was disappointed to see they had Vitamin D in them, but then I turned the box over and it said they were vegan! Maybe they're starting to use D2 instead of D3. Or maybe they mislabeled the box and I'm gonna eat something that isn't actually vegan (the bran flakes still aren't vegan, and the D is the only thing that looks like it wouldn't be vegan). I might email them, actually. I'll still eat them, but if they're mislabeled, I'll let y'all know (and obvs not buy them again).

Sainsburys don't always label vegan things as vegan, it's very annoying. It's because of production methods I think.

But if it says vit d then I probably wouldn't buy them unless like the ones you bought, it said vegan. I will buy cereals that say vegetarian if they don't have any milk/honey ... etc in and if there's no vit D in them, as they don't usually specify if it's D2 or D3.

I must say, lately I have been munching on weetabix minis choc crisp like they are sweets. 2 or 3 of them is enough to kick the sugar craving.

I got an email from Sainsbury's re: the cinnamon malties that basically said, yes they're vegan, but we're not sure about that Vit D (so really, they should've just said they're not sure about the Vit D). So they're gonna get back to me. I have a feeling they're gonna tell me they were mistaken and the box is mislabeled. But, tbh, the cereal isn't really that great (it's no Curiously Cinnamon), so I'm not all that fussed if it's not vegan (apart from eating something that's not vegan, I mean).

I also asked about the bran flakes, but all they have in their system is that it's Vit D - nothing about whether it's D2 or D3. So they're gonna look into that for me, but she said it'll take up to 7 days. If it is D3, I say start a petition - if they can put D2 in one cereal, they can put it in all of their fortified cereals.

Yay, go Sainsbury's! If it is D3 I'll sign the petition and promise to make a longer journey to stock up on D2 fortified cereal.

Tesco Cinnamon Squares are an alternative to Nestle Cinnamon Grahams.

Aldi's maple and pecan crisp. fork yes.

Also - COCO POPS. Why has no one mentioned this??!

Edit: Ok plenty of people have mentioned Coco pops. Disregard my existence.

OMG! Coco pops are vegan?!!!! Yum!

Tesco everyday value weetabix is vegan. Only 90cent for a box of 24 too.
