And how much do you pay (price per roll + dimensions of the roll in metres would be good!)?

I go through a lot of this stuff. I tried doing price-checks round town, but I'm sure I'm missing some golden land where the parchment tears smoothly from the giant economy roll.

i got mine (380mm x 10m) sometime last year from a Sainsbury's Local for 2.49-ish. and it doesn't tear cleanly, so i always use scissors.

have you considered a silicone baking mat? i got one from TK Maxx for 3 or 4 pounds, and i'm pretty happy with it.

I've got a couple of silicone mats, but I find them quite difficult to clean, and last time I tried using one it made my kitchen smell alarmingly of hot plastic!

I know the parchment paper is a bit wasteful but I do find it works incredibly well, and I generally manage to get 2 bakes out of each piece.

Unfortunately I don't think there is any miraculous cheap parchment paper. I found some cheap stuff once, in the 99p shop, but it was useless. Everything stuck to it, thus defeating its object.

Yes, I definitely go into 'scrimp an save' mode with parchment paper and re-use it a couple of times before discarding. Actually I might use one piece 2x on each side. So one roll lasts me a while, even though I bake a lot.

I got re-usable sheet for £1 from pondland today WHAT A FIND! Im going to get one the same size as my most used cake tin and cut it into a round to cut down on the amount of parchment I use.
