It looks like we can do brunch at 1847 if we're able to leave by about 1.15pm. It looks like 1847 opens at 10 for brunch on Sunday. Is that OK for everyone else? I want to be able to have a wander round Unicorn, but they don't open until 11 on a Sunday, so I don't think it would work for us if we did shopping first.

Suits me! It might be worth making a booking on a Sunday morning - I can do that once everyone coming confirms.

for any of you out of towners that want to get to Unicorn, the metrolink stop on Market Street (right outside the venue, basically) is where the St Werburgh's Road tram goes from and if you get off at the Chorlton stop (right next to Morrison's), walk along past the front of Morrison's and then out on Albany Rd Unicorn is about a 5 minute walk straight along that one road. easy. i live right next to st werburghs rd metrolink station and can be at the venue from my front door in 15 minutes, yay!

hopefully we'll get to meet some of you at the fair!

I watched it the first time it was on and yep, they'll be there. They're called Naked Vegan Cooking.

For complete clarity - from Chorton tram stop, having walked past Morrisons, you turn right on to Albany Road. Unicorn (and the Unicorn carpark) is on the right corner at the end of that road, opposite the Monkey Puzzle toy shop.
Further along the main road (Manchester Road) is 1847 restaurant (no 123). You turn right as you leave Unicorn and it's a short walk, on the same side as the toy shop (no 93).

i'm now pretty super excited for Saturday!
it's been years since there was a vegan fair in manc (and the lancaster one last year was such a disappointment) so i'm expecting good things...

i'll (most likely) be wearing a brown "real men bake bread" tshirt; say hello!

(jojo, what colour will your hair be?!)

Their FB page said they open at 10.30, so if you haven't made the booking yet, I guess go for 10.30 if that's when they open. There will be 2 of us, btw.

I'm trying to decide if I should wear a food-related shirt or my Cat Commandeering a Raptor shirt. I think I'll wear the cat shirt on Sunday, so I'll probably be wearing my brown "Bake It So!" t-shirt (Capt Picard in an apron holding a cupcake) on Saturday.

I'm so excited!

It's blonde with a shaved bit and faded blue underneath!

I'm pretty excited, I can't wait to eat everything! Rachel37 I am looking forward to your cat shirt!

slight spanner in your works (possibly)- there's no trams running between st werburgh's road and the city all weekend due to "planned engineering works". metrolink, ruining plans since 1986!
there's apparently a replacement bus service, but tbh you'd be better off getting a regular service- the 86 from piccadilly bus station stops right outside unicorn...

I've booked for 10am (I didn't check this thread beforehand, derp), under the name Sarah. Because that's my name.

It was SO awesome! I'm in V Revolution writing a blog post about it now.

It was brilliant to meet everyone / see everyone again!

The tofu ball I bought from Unicorn after brunch this morning was awesome, it reminded me a little of a Scotch Egg!

Yeah, that tofu ball was really good!

It was really good to meet xherbivorex and cidersmurfette and to see jojo and mendelian again!

The festival itself was mental! We got there pretty early and it was already ridiculously crowded. When we left around 12.30, the queue was down the alley and around the corner. But it was good to see so many people interested in it. I hope it happens again next year, but maybe in a bigger venue!

the organisers are saying that around 2500 people showed up in total, which is kind of insane!
but yeah, awesome weekend and lovely to meet you three (four, sorry!).

and frank... ha!

what tofu balls? did you get those ganmodoki things (or whatever they're called)? sort of deep fried spiced tofu things, about golf ball sized? they're pretty good, yeah.
i just got back home after stuffing our faces with chinese food in liverpool with my parents. i can't move...

I never tried the tofu balls from Unicorn as I thought they were the same as those tofu sea cakes by Clear Spot. Are they different?

Ha! Frank! Love him!

2500 is AWESOME! And yeah, hopefully it'll be at a much bigger venue next year.

And yeah the balls were the ganmodoki. SO delicious. rentaghost they definitely aren't the sea cake things.

Rad! I hope you guys are having fun & enjoying Manchester. And I think the Vegusto thieves must've been other vegans!

they only seem to restock vegusto every few weeks and have had low stocks for a few days now (i live about a 15 minute walk from unicorn). if you're around for a while, go into the city centre and get some from V-Revolution instead!

I'm heading to Ireland today, but my aunt wrapped two packages in about a thousand insulating devices which I am taking with me. I bought all the food things at Unicorn and in Brighton and sadly realized this morning that there is absolutely no way I had room in my backpack for everything. Vegusto took precedence.
