So my dad brought me back a couple bags of vital wheat gluten from America, and I've fallen in love with making seitan from it but...I gave no idea where to get it over here. It all seems pretty expensive, I don't know if I'm looking in the right places.

UK people, where do you get yours?

low carb megastore. http://www.lowcarbmegastore.com/azelis- ... 38489.html

ETA: Leicester Wholefood Co-op sometimes has it, if you're ever in the area it's worth looking around the flour shelves.

Oh, thank you! I knew I saw somewhere with a Norwich warehouse before but couldn't find it.

I'm pretty much gone from Leicester as from next week but I'll keep an eye out if I'm ever there, thanks.

I buy the Bob's red mill stuff through Amazon, it's really good. I ordered some cheaper stuff through vegan store but it's yet to show up!

I have started seeing it in shops a bit more. I've seen it a possibly mediterranean health food shop in Bristol (but that's not relevant unless you live near Bristol). About £1.70 for 500g, I think.

I have a semi-regular order at my local health food shop (rural Wiltshire). It's always worth asking to see in they can order it for you.

This is a good point. Suma do 500g bags and they're pretty well distributed, I think.

Do you find ordering it online works out cheaper? I've seen VWG in shops here for over a tenner for a 500g bag, but also delivery of something heavy from the UK to Ireland from Amazon would be expensive too.

I get mine in a local health food shop (Real Foods in Edinburgh) and I think they deliver within the UK too.

Generally I haven't seen it available in shops so online shopping has been the only option, but I'm starting to see bags of Suma in a few different places now. Does Suma stuff get distributed around your way? Should be €3.50 or less judging by £ prices.

Have you tried Parcel Motel? If you can get free shipping to UK, then it'll only cost €3.95 for the shipping through them and so not have to pay the ridiculous shipping prices to ROI.

Oooh thanks for the recommendation, I'll check that out!

I've never seen the Suma brand VWG here, only Bob's Red Mill. €3.50 VWG would be great! When I lived in Spain I was able to get it cheap and I made alot of seitan.

Have you seen any other Suma branded stuff though? It's not widely available here because most stores want wheat-free and probably don't know about the uses of gluten flour, I've only seen it in a couple of stores, but if you can get other Suma stuff your store might be able to order it in?

I just moved to Derby and it turns out the local vegan/health food/etc shop sells it! £2.19 per 500g so not too bad price wise. Cheaper than amazon.

Oh nice. Is that the shop underneath the Yaffle Cafe? Only been once but it seems like a well-stocked place.

I have seen some Suma stuff in shops here, but not much. Next time I see some I will ask the shop about VWG. I am afraid that they would order it in for me and it would still be expensive, the shop that sells Bob's Red Mill VWG sells it for €12.50 for 500g! Ireland is an expensive country but that is a bit much for me. It seems like its available in the UK for 1/3 of that! In Spain I was able to get it for about €3-€4. I am thinking of checking out how much cheaper it would be to buy online from the UK. I don't even use it that much, but that's probably because I'm used to it being rare!

Yeah that's the one, Sound Bites. I've only been a couple of times but it seems good! I've not been to the cafe yet though. They seem to be the only vegan places around!

I was wondering about this too because I use order from lowcarb megastore but I went to order the other day and the shipping was the same or possibly more than 2 bags of VWG, so I didn't bother. I don't wanna order more than that though as it'll just sit taking up space in my cupboards!

Last time I ordered I asked around all the local vegans and about 6 other people wanted some so we could share postage.

I would do that too if I knew any vegans that lived within 50 miles of me! :)
