Just popping in to say that so far, I've been to Vantra, Woodlands, and Amico Bio. Vantra was ok. Very convenient to shopping on Oxford Street. Woodlands was really good and they even have a vegan menu! The soup was so spicy it almost blew my head off, and I'm pretty spicy food tolerant. But Amico Bio is the big winner so far! So good! Especially the starter with carrots, grilled tofu and eggplant.

I'm going to try to get to 222 Veggie Vegan tonight as it's right up the road from the conference and I'm already fantasizing about the roast dinner.

There is a cat cafe in Shoreditch (of course) but you have to book in advance.

I typed up a whole thing and then it disappeared when I hit submit, but we are here! I'm desperate for a big breakfast somewhere. We're staying in Shoreditch near the corner of Bacon and Brick Lane. I am imagining a big vegan breakfast plate.

You're near The Gallery Cafe in Bethnal Green, they do brilliant breakfasts.

Have fun, pickledtreats! Not sure how much time you'll have for shopping, but if you miss Whole Foods, there are a few locations in London. Also, Vegan Cross near King's Cross/St. Pancras often has Field Roast. (It was sadly sold out when I was there.) And if you like Wilmersburger, you'll probably like the Jeezini cheese they have!

Is anything at the Shard vegan? Maybe the toast? Husband's brother is going to book us a reservation for breakfast and I wanted to know if I can eat there or if I should eat beforehand.

Toast and jam is usually a pretty safe bet (we don't often throw milk or honey into the bread!) and you can always ask for a fruit plate. I'd definitely eat a clif bar or something first though unless you have a chance to email them.

Excellent, jojo, thank you. I'll try emailing now but as a backup, I'll go for fruit and/or toast with jam. I quickly scanned the menu and thought "ah, I'm sure a PPKer knows." I'll post if I hear back from the email.
edit: nowhere to email (other than for event inquiries) on the website… I'll try FB!

From Aqua Shard Reservations: "Thank you for your email. apologies there are only vegetarian options on the menu. I am so sorry if I was not able to assist you on this occasion. Kind regards, Santa."

So I shall go with the fruit and enjoy the views then!

Looks like I'll be in London October 17 - 20. I'm trying to book an Airbnb; does anyone have any recommendations for neighborhoods/areas to look in? I'm hearing Camden, but wouldn't mind another option, since I'm not seeing a lot of stuff available in Camden for my dates.

Thank you!

Camden is a very cool area, but London thankfully has a lot of areas like that with plenty going on all of the time. The two other places I'd recommend are Hackney/Shoreditch and Brixton, with pros and cons to each. The former is a real hipster den, but with that comes lots of cool popups, coffee, and beer. Brixton is my favourite spot in London, and in my opinion the most underrated vegan destination too, with many places featuring vegan menu items. It feels further out than it is, but it's on the Victoria line (which is the fastest line, so you can be central in 10-15 minutes). Word got out about Hackney years ago and is slowly going the same way with Brixton.

I think I saw some decent rates for Islington when I was last looking at airbnb, that's a pretty handy location and has the cheapest veg Indian buffet in London, which I believe has soya lassi options. You might not want to go to a cheapo place since your time is limited, but I have always enjoyed my visits there, it has interesting decor!

I'd second Hackney or Islington :)

However, my cousin also has an Airbnb listing in Arnos Grove and is lovely, so I can recommend staying with her if you think her place might be suitable for you (https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/689740)

Two things: The Shard absolutely accommodated me and I had a lovely breakfast

Second: Jordan, we were only in London for 24 hours but it is SO easy to get anywhere on the tube. We stayed near London Bridge and got to Camden pretty quickly. Also London is incredibly bike friendly as far as availability of bike rentals goes, and so so many people were riding.

I hope we can go back with more time to spend there next year. Also Cookies and Scream was awesome.

Thank you guys.

I booked an Airbnb in Hackney with a person who happens to work in the bicycle industry, so I think that will be great.

If anyone wants to meet up and have a beer or something, get in touch. My stay will be relatively short, but I have 0 plans. :)

Awesome! Definitely go eat a cooked breakfast at the Black Cat Cafe if you get time. You won't regret it!
