I don't know if anyone else is a member of the Suitable for Vegans FB group, but there was just a post there with a screenshot where someone had asked Rekorderlig about their vegan suitability on their Facebook page and they said it's not vegan. Contrary to what it says on Barnivore.

Wah. Does anyone know any more about this? I'm hoping it's just an overzealous/misinformed customer service person, 'cause I've read in various places that it is suitable and have been drinking it for ages. :(

They confirmed on Twitter that they use gelatine in their processing.

That's kind of a disappointment, though I think I can quite easily live without Rekorderlig. Brothers cider is all suitable for vegans though and has that same, sweet fruitiness.

Balls.

I'm not fussed about not drinking it from this point onwards. Just annoyed/grossed out that I consumed something non-vegan.

That's so annoying! Have you contacted Barnivore with the update?

I haven't, since I got the information secondhand, but I will.

Ugh. I saw this on twitter earlier. It's super frustrating when companies do an about turn about whether their products are vegan. I'm happy not to drink it any more but I'm definitely annoyed that I've been drinking non vegan booze even if it was like, two bottles in the last 18 months!

I have drunk somewhat more. Probably 50 in the last 6 months :-(

Heh, I just found out and thought, does the PPK know about this? I'm super disappointed because it was my go-to drink. I drink cider pretty much exclusively, and Rekorderlig is one of the brands that most pubs have. I already knew the other main pub ciders (Magners and Kopparberg) aren't vegan. I'd order Brothers if anyone carried it, but I don't think I've ever seen it outside of the shops.

I'm mostly disappointed because I've recommended them to vegan noobs and pubs looking for vegan options. I hate giving people bad info about vegan products.

Thatchers and Westons are vegan! do any of the pubs up there stock either brand?

Not often, and they're usually dry. I prefer sweet, hence drinking Rekorderlig. The mustards.
