I'm in Cambridge for a few hours next week for an interview. It's the middle of the day but I arrive at about 10am and need recommendations for a good breakfast/brunch/early lunch. Preferably sometime that isn't too heavy as I will have been travelling since 3am and need to not be post food sleepy.

I won't be driving, I will be arriving by train so anything close to there or near the centre.

Plan for post interview is rainbow cafe for a massive dinner, desert and a glass on wine since I won't be driving for 8 hours after.

Did you find anything? I'll be in Cambridge for a weekend and need food ideas!

Rainbow cafe! It was great. It's a vegan/vegetarian place. Everything is clearly marked. They have regular items plus daily specials. My original plan was tacos, cheesecake and wine but I was so exhausted by the time I got lunch I could only stomach the thought of a cold sugar laced drink and sweet tea. I reluctantly ordered food and it was lovely. An Indian dish with vegan Quorn. I didn't manage much of it because I was so queasy with the level of tiredness but it did perk me up enough to make the return journey home. (Was awake for 23hours, a long drive, a flight, a train journey, a few hours around Cambridge, a taxi a double interview then taxi, lunch, train, flight, and drive.

There is also meant to be a few stalls in the market that have vegan options.

I'm actually moving there at the end of the month.

Ooh thanks! I'm excited to go there. Sorry about your day; that sounds awful.

Where is the market? Is it the kind of thing I couldn't miss finding?

I actually got a total kick out of it. I knew I was pushing it ( I had work the next morning) but I knew I wouldn't sleep the night before and I needed to be in work the next day. It impressed the interviewers anyway!

The market is very easy to find. Its right in the centre of Cambridge so no going out of the way especially for it.

I booked my ferry this morning so I arrive the morning of 1st September! So excited!

There is meant to be a new Nigerian food stall in the market that has 2 veg options. Plus there is a new vegan cafe opening in Autumn and it is near where I will be working! Yay!
