Accidentally vegan food you discover and like

I bought some of those carnation rice pudding sachets today, i'm excited to try them. And to see the disgusted look on my dad's face when I show him them. haha

I saw the chocolate covered raisins in sainsbury's today. £2.89 for a 75g bag!!! I though fork that and bought Choices caramels instead.

As much as I really really want a chocolate covered raisin, I can't pay that much for a bag in good conscience.
I'll pay £0.99 for a bag of trail mix and £0.78 for semi-sweet chocolate drops and pair raisins and chocolate and pretend.

chocolate covered raisins are probably easy enough to make yourself, anyway. can't imagine why they'd be so expensive, unless they have to be manufactured in a certified allergy-free environment.

I have. It's okay, pretty similar taste-wise to a very easy sauce I make to go over Swedish Glace and/or brownies which is just marge, cocoa and golden syrup in roughly equal quantities heated up to bubbling in a saucepan.

I bought a loaf of La Brea walnut bread from Tescos today, after being pleasantly surprised that it was labelled as being suitable for vegans. It is so, so good, and it's nice to be able to get bread from a supermarket without wondering about suspicious-looking e-numbers.

Yes. It's pleasant but nowhere near as good as the Whole Earth one, which ASDA also sell.

Sadly, no. We're still working on getting all the paperwork together for my visa application, but my son does have both of his passports now.

My husband sends care packages quite frequently and I was going to tell him to get some if it was any good.

Question: at Waitrose the other day I saw their holiday "dried fruit selection" tray which included figs, medjool dates, apricots... and marzipan (maybe nuts, too?). It didn't appear to be non-vegan, but I wanted to know if a) anyone has had it before and if it's good and b) if anyone knows if the marzipan is vegan.

Sorry I didn't get the ingredients list for the marzipan.

Marzipan should be vegan, most supermarket brands of it are - occasionaly some companies put egg white in, so you'd need to check it!

I did not notice anything outstanding and noticeable like egg white- just didn't copy down things I was unsure about. Plain marzipan stuffed in the fruit.

I visited my local Carluccio's today and discovered Tartufi Neri - dark chocolate and hazelnut truffles, and tins of chocolate covered alcohol soaked-cherries. Yum!

Yeah, I keep eyeing those Tartufi up. They're pretty pricey for a treat for me though, will have to give them to someone who will then be obliged to share! Their gianduja used to be okay too, but they started adding milk powder in for some reason.
