MSG makes thing taste amazing. Then afterwards I feel sick. But it's worth it.

If it wasn't for MSG then Cheese and Onion Hunky Dories wouldn't be vegan

They took it out a few years ago. I haven't eaten them since, tbh - well apart from that one bag that lead to my discovering that they had no msg.

I will not look for chocolate chip hobnobs....I will not look for chocolate chip hobnobs.....
(I really need to lose a few kilos right now. Biscuits are my kryptonite)

I don't know if it counts as vegan by accident, but I had a white chocolate macadamia clif bar yesterday, and it didn't seem marketed as vegan at all - was in with the rest of the muesli bar thingies at the HFS. It was amazing. Tasted like omni white chocolate, even though it's soy. Gave hubs a bite and had to wrestle it back from him.

M&S Beef Burger crisps and Fish and Chips crisps are vegan. I know kind of weird right. I really liked the beef burger ones. A very authentic taste. Fish and chips not so much, I didn't really get much from them except vinegar. This person wrote a good review: http://www.thereviewaddict.com/2013/05/ ... urger.html

Starbucks' mocha cookie crumble frappuccino made with soy and no whip is vegan. They pretty much read out the ingredients for all the parts of it that I didn't already know were vegan, and everything was OK (as far as I can tell - no obvious non-vegan ingredients). Woot! And they're super delicious - far better than the blended coffee coolers at Costa.

Poundland is currently selling Metcalfe's skinny dark chocolate rice cakes, which seem to be vegan. They also had Hobnobs and raspberry ruffles.

Chocolate chip hobnobs? Oh I think I need these. Sainsbury's own brand?

No, Hobnob brand! They are in a brown packaging. Not labelled "cookies"...they're right next to the plain hobnobs...near the chocolate covered hobnobs.

No, actual Hobnobs. Not the Hobnobs chocolate chip cookies (I think in a red packet - not vegan), but proper Hobnobs with chocolate chips in (they're called Hobnobs choc chip on the gold-coloured packet).

ETA - cross post!

haha snap!

also, I must say, wilkinsons "fruit shortcake" biscuits are amazing. I used to call them squished fly biscuit (not garibaldi) when I was a kid but never have found any without milk till now! and they do "nice" biscuits that are vegan. and bourbons.

Ooh, I've never had a "nice" biscuit. Where did you find them?

Also, all this biscuit talk is, not surprisingly, making me want biscuits.

Wilkinsons! Never thought to look there for food but I went to get a biscuit tin...and came out with several packs of biscuits to fill it :p

Although, having said that about the fruit shortcakes, I just went to the local shop and seems mcvities are vegan too, and "hills".

I wish I had never seen this thread ... I NEVER look at standard packet biscuits, crackers on the shelf ... I resolutely turn away, get a few staples, then off the market for fruit / veg with stop at my local health food shop http://www.arjunawholefoods.co.uk/ where most of the treats are fine to eat ... argh ... cannot remember the last time I had a HobNob ... must have been LAST century ...

Anne now SO longing for a fruit shortcakes etc.!

There are two chocolate cereals in Lidl that don't seem to have any animal ingredients in them from a quick glance yesterday.

I didn't buy either because I would have eaten the whole box in one go and I am trying to behave.

oh no! ... they are opening a Starbucks in the hospital where I work (already 2 Costas in the food court) ...
why have I sent 'Starbucks' mocha cookie crumble frappuccino made with soy and no whip' in an e-mail to myself at work?
Starbucks are BAD ... they do not pay proper UK taxes ... mucho grumble ... oh no! that sounds like 'mocha crumble' ...

I will resist ... although might be good to have one for a quality control check so I can advise others in my office there ...

Haha, I made a note of it on my phone! On a long drive a week or so ago we stopped at a motorway service station with a Starbux so I felt 'forced' to try one. It was interesting and I'm glad I tried it but I won't feel like I'm missing much by continuing to avoid Starbux!

What? WHAT? Chocolate chip hobnobs? Are you kidding me?!

I have devoured a box (or two) of Mornflake Chocolatey Squares over the past couple of weeks. I just eat them out of the box like candy!
