Oh boo, it stops playing about 2 min in, but I'm willing to give it a shot! Even if it's a little "expensive" up front (it wouldn't be expensive if I weren't on this darn budget) it's worth it in the end if I can cut down on hair products! Baps-approved! Thanks!

I've got one of those and they're great! I have really thin flighty hair and it makes it shiny and nice.

Also, I really like naked products. I tend to buy them when they're on offer on Boots and people have complemented me on my shiny hair! They have everything listed on their website and I think they do a kids detangler and a couple of curl tamer type things.

I have the samy volume shampoo and conditioner but think I'm allergic to them as if I use them for more than two days in a row my head starts to itch!

I never wash my hair every day! It might make you head itch because it's too drying?
At home I used to wash it twice a week but conditioned it more frequently. Curl seems to hold better the less I wash it. I'll have to see how the water and new shampoo/products are with my hair and get a new routine down.

Baps and cidersmurfette approved tangler brush thing. I need to start looking for it! It works on wet hair, so I'm excited to find it and give it a go!

What's a good vegan gentle liquid laundry soap that I can use to hand wash my expensive-ass lingerie?

eta: Also, saw the tangle brush at Boots today, going to see if it's available/any cheaper at superdrug. If not, I'll go back to boots and buy it. Thanks for that info!

Meggs, I like Co-op Eco Laundry Liquid which I use for the odd bit of hand washing - but I don't have anything particularly precious that I hand wash, so I'm not sure if there's anything more specialist than that that's vegan?

You know I'm saving it and have been meaning to do this since you mentioned this a few pages back! I read a it all (but probably didn't absorb it all.)I'll check it out! Can you find it at any one of those Co-op's that has the green sign? I need to learn more about the Co-op's. I think there are tons of them but I don't know if they're all the same?

All the Co-ops are part of the same co-operative, but some of the smaller ones only have Kwik-E-Mart kind of stuff. Most big towns have a larger Co-op, and they have a good range of own-brand household cleaners and chemicals, all of which are BUAV, and most of which are vegan (labelled No Animal Ingredients).

Dying over plum and red cherry shower gel from Superdrug. Smells. So. Good.

And thanks, RR, every household cleaner was so very clearly labelled, it was so easy. Until I learn more, that can definitley be my go-to place.

So, over here, BUAV/the bunny symbol means it's all good? Or must it also say "no animal ingredients?"

BUAV= British Union for Abolition of Vivisection.
their label means the product has passed their requirements for not having been tested on animals. it doesn't explicitly mean no animal ingredients so you probably still need to check for things like lanolin, beeswax etc etc

BUAV means no animal testing of finished product or ingredients - but it doesn't guarantee there aren't animal by-products being used. I think that would be the same for BUAV approved products in the US too, though, it's the same organisation - it stands for the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection. All the Marks & Spencer bodycare, makeup and household products are BUAV approved too, by the way - if you like the Superdrug plum and cherry stuff, check out the M&S fruity shower gels and body butters, but some of them have animal ingredients such as beeswax in them, so you have to scan the labels.

Thanks for schooling me, guys! Luckily the laundry stuff I got from the co-op also says "no animal ingredients," so that is good, but I know to look for the extra labelling as well as the BUAV label! Thank you.

I'll check out the M&S stuff next time I'm near an M&S other than just a Simply Foods one, RR, because I do love love love that body wash! It smells amazing! (But I shall be on the lookout for animal products in.)

I need to find a good chapstick next. I suppose Superdrug has one, but I couldn't find one at the small one I was in last time.

Superdrug don't do a twist up chapstick that is vegan but they do do a range of lipbalms in tins. The strawberry one smells amazing but I can't vouch for consistency as I am on a lipbalm buying moratorium... You can also buy Crazy Rumors and Hurraw balms from supersmoocher.com if you are desperate for a stick style balm.

I did see the tin ones, but I am more of a fan of stick ones.

I love BodyShop lotions and body butters, but I'm not sure they are animal friendly. Does anyone know for sure?

They are quite cagey about actually sharing their ingredients lists at times, but they will tell you if things are vegan or not if you go in and ask. However, many vegans would not be comfortable buying from the Body Shop as they were bought out by L'Oreal a couple of years ago, who test products on animals. Although the Body Shop stuff isn't animal tested, by buying stuff in there you would be supporting animal testing.

I know how much it sucks to have to use a different product when there's something you, but there are some great alternatives to the Body Shop out there. If you like the body butters, you might like to have a look in Superdrug for similar, who do not test on animals and have introduced fabulous vegan labeling, or if you are looking for something more natural I am huge fan of most of Lush's body moisturisers.

Unless they've changed the ingredients since I last looked eons ago, there's lanolin alcohol in at least some of the Body Shop body butters. I don't know if that's just because I only looked at the heavier dry skin ones or not. It should say when you peel back the label on the bottom of the tub.

Boots do a great range of body butters that are vegan (except one but it says milk in the title). They smell awesome and are lovely.

For the win. Thanks, I really appreciate it. Much easier than a comb. My hair is still falling out a lot, but this is so much easier to get through my hair than any comb! Actually, it's darn near effortless.

On the lip balm thing, Palmer's cocoa butter one in the tube is vegan. It's vaseline-like texture, but some people aren't down with the tins (plus it tastes like chocolate!). Also, Simple brand makes a couple of vegan ones, including one that has "synthetic beeswax"..freaky, eh?

What? I didn't know this! Which ones?

Pretty sure Palmers animal test, or are owned by someone who does. EDIT: their website says they don't but I'm sure they were on the PETA bad list. Might have to do some more digging.

I couldn't see anything obviously non-vegan so I emailed them and they said they are vegan. And Boots don't animal test. There is one flavour that is not vegan but it's either got milk or honey (or both, I forget now) in the title.
