And I'm pretty much down, provided we can figure out all of those annoying practical details like "jobs" and "visas".

I've never been, but we're hoping to visit in the fall. Any ppkers in or around Galway? Anything awesome/horrible to tell me about it?

why does he want to move to Galway?

i've never been to Ireland at all, but i'd love to visit once i'm established in England.

He lived in Galway for a couple of years, and it sounds like an area that would appeal to us both. I lived in England for several years, and would love to move back to the UK/Ireland. And...property is a lot cheaper in Ireland nowadays.

without wanting to introduce some rain to the parade, do take into consideration part of the reason why the property prices are a lot cheaper is the direction the economy has gone the last few years. i'm up north and haven't made it out that far west so i am that bit removed from it. but i would advise caution.

does that sound bad?

No, no, we get it. I guess I sounded pretty ignorant in my first post. We both work freelance, from home, so we are not counting on profitable income from the local economy. But thank you!

My boyfriend loves Galway! He went there on tour a couple of years back and is now planning our next holiday to include a visit there again!

deal!

I suppose I should ask you in an email, but are you thinking no to NYC now? We're likely visiting the UK/Ireland in the fall, and if you are somewhere in Europe I will come see you!

i loved Ireland as a whole. i only spent a little time in Galway, and remember thinking it was just so-so, but what i loved about other towns was how cute and quaint they were and i wouldn't want to live in cute and quaint because i can only assume it would get boring, whereas Galway's more of a "city."

me, helpful? not really...

We tend to like living in cute/quaint/boring places!

Galway's lovely! You'll have a great time. It rains a lot on the West coast though, so bring your wellies!

We're still thinking about it! But it's more like, buy property sometime soon and then move there in 5-10 years. We are planning a UK trip in the fall! We're also looking at property on the east coast of Canada. And all the other affordable places that also happen to be awesome. :) I can't wait to visit in the my motherland and Ireland in the fall though! My 98-year-old grandma in Lewes is still kicking.

Oh wow! Have a wonderful trip! That is so exciting to know you are going soon and so exciting to have that kind of long-term plan! And grandma! Love it all. I would move to Europe in a heartbeat if I had a job (and if I had made a dent paying off my loans).

Thanks, darlin'! My loans are insane too. Lifetime-insane. My boyfriend is debt-free, lucky jerk.
