Does anyone know where I can get a super intensive moisturising conditioner?

Every six years or so my hair decides it hates the amount of bleach I put on it and turns to straw, it's pretty bad this time, loads of it snapped & it's all curly & weird. I don't really want to even leave the house with my hair looking like this so if it's something I can get in Superdrug or Sallys hair & beauty (which are near where my husband works!) that'd be awesome!

Oh, and yes I do know I'm an idiot & I should stop bleaching my hair!

Gosh, I know it's expensive but I love Aveda. I know there's a salon in Brighton. It does last forever though.

I just checked out the Aveda website & they have a super intensive conditioner for very dry damaged hair, it's £21 but if it'll stop my hair looking like this that's fine!

There's also an Aveda store about 5 min's from my house, I think if I put on a hat I might manage to deal with going that far!

Their stuff is really superb. I can't say if there's anything cheaper that might work as well, but I find their stuff works really well and I probably use less than 2 pots of shampoo per year, so it really does last. If you go to the salon all their staff have a really good level of training so if you can bear to let them touch it they'll do a good job of recommending something.

The salon's even closer to my house than the shop so I'll have a wonder past there tomorrow & see if I can make myself go inside... I've only been in a hairdressers once over 10 years ago - I'm kinda scared of them!

So I got an intensive conditioner & something that you leave in your hair & comb through & it's getting better! Sadly I did some research into the company after my panicked dash to the shops & it turns out that they're owned by Estee Lauder who are on the Uncaged boycott list because they test on animals.

Coconut fat, which you can probably get at Yum Yums. Some Superdrugses sell it, too. The one in Lewes certainly used to have it with the hair stuff, but they stopped.

Rub a little of it through your hair and leave it overnight. You'll wake up with a greasy face and pillow, but... think of it as surprise winter skincare?

Aveda are? really? They have won all sorts of VegNews awards so I never even thought to check.

No Estee Lauder don't test on animals. They also own MAC, chanel, Aveda, Clinique.... etc.

That's good, I kinda love their deep conditioner! It's weird they're still on this list though http://www.uncaged.co.uk/crueltyfree.htm

Jojo, has the aveda stuff helped at all?

My hairdresser gave me long lectures last night about how dry my hair is and said I need to put treatments on it. She recommended Aussie 3 minute miracle but as that's animal tested I'm not going to buy that.

baps it's definitely done some good. My hairs still a bit forked & I'm probably going to have to chop a little bit off but it's much better than it was.

The products I have are the damage remedy intensive restructuring treatment & the damage remedy daily hair repair. I also replaced my usual co-op conditioner with a tub of coconut & sweet almond intensive conditioner from Superdrug.

I've been using Lush R&B, which is a leave-in hair moisturiser. The humidity and hard tap water here make my curls go all frizzy if I don't condition properly. My colleague once commented on the mysterious incense-like scent that appeared when I took the elastic out my hair, which had been pulled back, so proceed with caution?

Baps - how did you find the Aveda stuff? One more recommendation and I'm there too.

I've only used it once so far, my hair does feel nice today. It's quite a small tube for £21, that's the downside of it, but I bought some intensive conditioner as well and so I'm just using the aveda one every other time. The lady in aveda gave me sample of the shampoo, conditioner and daily repair stuff that goes with the stuff I bought, but I haven't used those yet.

I also think the Aveda super conditioner is worth every penny, and I also like the magic potion thickening shaker.

What other conditioners out there are vegan? I know superdrug sells some, but I'm looking for other options!

Ooohh, thanks baps, I didn't know Samy was vegan.

ETA: does that mean they hair colours are vegan too?

I don't know about their hair colours but it would seem so from the email i got from them (I asked if it was just the shampoos/conditioners as these are labelled vegan or all products):

Quote:
First I would like to thank you for asking us about our products and considering them. Our products are 100% vegan and we do not under any circumstances test on animals. If you would like a coupon please email me back with your address. Please email me back if you have anymore questions. Thank you and have a wonderful day!

Just a shame the coupon thing was for the USA!!
